What can be said about the residents of Florida who elected a known Medicare Thief as their Governor? Gov. Rick Scott, former CEO of HCA Hospitals before they were busted for Fraud, raised his salary to $1,000,00.00 per month after helping kill Clinton's health care reform. He told his Hospital Administrators to turn a 20% net profit or hit the road in oder to pay him this princely sum of money. So they did and did it by Medicare Fraud. Now Florida elects this Known Thief to represent them. What is wrong with them? They all knew this when they elected him.
Can anyone recommend a pocket size medical abbreviation book? Just started work as an hca on hospital ward. Only worked in care homes before so have no idea what all the terms/abbreviations mean. Feel like a complete idiot having to ask all the time! Can anyone suggest a book that will fit in my uniform pocket. Thanks.
How long does it take for the NHS to shortlist applications? I applied for some HCA positions within Addenbrookes Hospital and i have been waiting ages for any reply and i am slightly worried, because i have all the qualifications needed for the position and more besides is it possible to be over qualified??
How long do I have to wait before job will be offered to me? Hi all, I had today an interview in the hospital for a bank HCA position, and it skipped my mind to ask them how long will I wait for their outcome, though I asked if I will be contacted regardless whether I get the job or not, and I was told yes but they didn't tell me for how long I have to wait. I hate waiting, the waiting is usually killing.
NHS Worker - How do I transfer from Surrey to Norfolk? Hello. I need to move from Surrey to Norfolk. I work as a full-time HCA in a NHS hospital. Is there any employee help line to assist me with transferring to a different area? NHS Jobs online is not turning up much and I really want to avoid leaving the service. Thanks.
Possibly becoming a HCA!! Help? i have looked into HCA as i want to be a childrens nurse bt its higly competative this year so if i dont get in im setting up a back up plan. As i was sayin ive been researching HCA and i thought u had to do an apprenticeship first to become one bt someone has suggested u dont u just do training with the hospital ur based at. Can anyone clear this up for me? Thanks
what do you think is the most overpayed job?and the most underpayed? overpayed - football even though i love the game i think money has spoilt it in the last 15 years. underpayed - hospital staff i know a lot of hospital staff don't get payed much and work long hours, hca's and carers etc.. i always remember breaking my elbow and having to spend a week in hospital, the care i got was brilliant. so i hold hospital staff in the highest regard.
The results of a hospital pregnancy test? I am an hca at my local trust and used a testing kit for pregnancy, this one usually goes in the machine. I know usually that testing kits show two lines for a positive result but this test has 3 obviously mean different things. i Have 2 lines does that mean a positive result? It's a siemens clinitest test for hcg.
Is Rick Scott of Florida now the GOP's Front Runner for 2012? Is it time for Sarah Palin to get nervous now that Rick Scott has a solid chance to become Florida's next Governor? After all Sarah only stole a couple of million from her fellow Alaskans, while Rick Scott snagged 1.7 BILLION from the 'socialist' fund called Medicare? WIll this become the new benchmark for success for GOP Politicians - - - how much they can steal from hated institutions? BY this new standard for excellence does this make Rick Scott the new front runner for 2012 or will Rick Scott have to fight Michelle Bachman for the Veep Spot to Prez Sarah Palin? http://www.cbsnews.com/8301-503544_162-20014659-503544.html """The deep-pocketed Scott, who spent nearly $40 million in the nasty and bruising campaign, was the CEO of the Columbia/HCA hospital chain, which was fined $1.7 billion for Medicare fraud not long after he left.""
Any tips on a CNA search in Salt Lake County/Davis county? I'm currently trying to find any sort of CNA/HCA job in the Salt Lake area or Davis County and am having no luck. I've tried multiple hospital and assisted living care facilities. Does anybody have any ideas/suggestions on what else I can do?
Can I become a HCA without clinical experience? I want to become a nurse, and want to get some experience in the hospital as a health care assistant, I want to apply to the bank/agencies so that I can fit shifts around my current job. However I don't have any previous experience in a clinical setting, but I do have 18 months experience caring for children in a nursery. This included around 6 months contributing to the care of a baby with health care needs. Do you think this will be taken into consideration if I ring up the Trust HR department? Also I am in Leeds and there seem to be so many different agencies in the area it's difficult to know which one to apply to? Does anyone have experience of nursing agencies (which accept health care assistants) in my area?
Any doctors or people who interview medical school applicants?? I will be applying for medicine as a graduate next year in London, England, and I was wondering if any doctors or admissions tutors etc could tell me if this work experience will help my application along well. I have worked with young people and children in my local community for 11 years in many ways, and I am looking into volunteering with Childline and also becoming a member of a prison members board which will involve helping to improve lives for female prisoners. I will also be applying for full time employment in the NHS once I complete my degree in Biological Sciences in May, perhaps as a HCA or something similar with lots of patient contact. I have done shadowing work experience before too, in 2 different hospitals. Does my experience sound sufficient enough for applying to a Graduate Entry medicine course? Could you please also add details of whether you are a doctor.student/interviewer etc, it'd be interesting for me to see where the advice is coming from, thanks
Would you vote for a person involved in the largest Medicare fraud case in US History? Everyone knows we, the taxpayers, are spending $100's of billions in waste, fraud, and abuse in the Medicare program. Rick Scott, CEO of Columbia HCA, committed "the biggest Medicare fraud case in U.S. history (that) ended with the hospital giant Columbia/HCA paying a record $1.7 billion in fines, penalties and damages." (Sun Sentinel, 5/20/10). Rick Scott didn't care, as he profited to the tune of $300 Million. Last evening, Rick Scott won the Republican Nomination for Governor of Florida. Three questions: 1. Would you have voted for this person? 2. How much will Rick Scott personally profit from becoming Governor? 3. Is this what Republicans stand for? "Rick Scott, who ran a company involved in the nation's largest Medicare fraud case, wants to be Florida's governor" http://articles.sun-sentinel.com/2010-05-20/news/fl-rick-scott-governor-hca-20100520_1_medicare-fraud-case-hospitals-in-el-paso-hospital-giant-columbia Sorry, Bob J... the Clinton's were found Not Guilty, but, nice try. Tom Jr: He was the CEO of the Company, that makes him responsible, which is why the Board voted to kick him out. But it is good to know that you will absolve him of any responsibility: under your logic, if he became Gov of Fl, he won't be responsible for anything here either.
i need a little help understanding abbreviations in the hospital...? I work at a hospital as a HCA (health care assistant) and i've been doing it for 3 months now and i'm still getting my head around all the abbreviations and I forgot to ask about them today so I was wondering if anyone could help me.. what do the following mean .. - INP - NIDDM - CVA - GI bleed and also what does end stage renal failure mean? and end stage dementia? my patient that has it is NFR hmm anyway if anyone has the answers it would help alooot thanks x ahh thanks, i have tried google for it didnt get any results :( x
Does Florida have a crisis of Republican Integrity or Lack of....with Republicans Rick Scott and Marco Rubio? Does the Florida Republican party or the entire Republican party have an integrity crisis on it's hands? Take for example Rick Scott of Florida. This Republican Governor is responsible for what was and still is the biggest Medicare fraud case in U.S. history and ended with the hospital giant Columbia/HCA paying a record $1.7 billion in fines, penalties and damages. Republican Rick Scott was co-founder and CEO of Columbia/HCA in the 1990s, when the FBI launched a massive, multi-state investigation that led to the company pleading guilty to criminal charges of overbilling the government. This same man now preaches about how bad Goverment is. Has refused money for his State to fix schools, health care funds etc. Then there is the sad case of the now disgraced Marco Rubio and his case of fraudulent revisionist History with his Cuban Exile lies. Republican Marco Rubio's entire Cuban exile story was fabricated and his Citizenship is now in dispute with the Birthers. As Floridians do you feel ok with this immoral and unethical behavior with these elected Republicans? .
no period.....2months.? Okay so its been nearly 2 months since my last period!!!! But, there are some factors that need to be considered ( I just want your opinion on it really...) 1. I stopped taking the pill on my last period in begining of november. This is purely because of the type of pill that i take (dianette). So, as i stopped taking it on my last period, would that make my periods irregular? 2 months? 2.I take levothyroxine. This could affect my periods if the medication wasnt the correct dose for me. But on my last blood test it was correct. Altho my last blood test was like 3 months ago and things do change... 3.Stress. I do have a very stressful job!!! I work in the hospital as a hca. so you can understand the stressfulness. 4. I do have a boyfriend. We are very carefull 98% of the time. I no what your thinking, do a test. But, they can cost up to £10. I have the money but i just wanted your opinions first before i bought one, incase its not needed. Thanks.
Would Dr. Bill Frist (R-TN) make a better President than 0bama? I would think so, here's why: -Bill Frist went to Princeton, not Occidental College. -Bill Frist went to Harvard Medical School and is a board-certified Cardiovascular Surgeon, who saved hundreds of lives. Harvard Medical School is twice as prestigious and selective than Harvard Law. -Bill Frist actually worked in the Healthcare industry as a Cardiovascular Surgeon who saved lives and as a hospital administrator with Hospital Corporation of America. -Bill Frist has private sector experience working in hospitals as a HMS-educated surgeon and executive at HCA. -Bill Frist actually served a full Senate term.
Tell me why my crush is wrong..? Ok I'm an HCA at my local hospital and have a crush on a patient. His case is simple, I change his bedlinen and check his vital signs and that's about all I do clinically for him. Every time I go in his room we have a great, relaxed and interesting conversation and I can't help but find him attractive in pretty much every way! I know it's not right for people to do anything on the ward (!!) but don't understand why we can't meet up outside of work (especially if I've given him my details and thus can't be suspected of taking them off file without permission etc) or why people have such an aversion to this kind of situation! Please advise
Diploma of Higher Education in Adult Nursing - OU? I am working as a HCA in my local hospital. I want to continue my studies and become a fully-qualified nurse. I cannot afford to leave full-time work though as I have commitments. I have been looking at the Open university and they offer a pre-regiestration program, which on completion will lead to being registered as a nurse. The Diploma is being changed into a Degree in 2012, this would be a fantastic way for me to study and continue bringing in the pennies! Has anyone else gone this route or is currently taking this course?

I was just wanting someone who had this degree to tell me their job experience. I am in the poverty level and I'm trying to get out. I have no real world experience except a gas station cashier. I've had health issues withholding me from being able to work that have recently been diagnosed and I've started treatment. I wouldn't mind a receptionist, scheduling, and some back office stuff. It's definitely a step up from where I am now. Then I could go for a BS or something and move up. I would eventually like to go for billing or coding. I'm just trying to make my life better, and do something that I would actually would like to do. And, yes, my other question was deleted because it wasn't letting me add all the information, not because of the answer I received.
help?????????????????????? hi i am working for Medical City Dallas hospital. it is an HCA compaany owned facility and i want to transfer to Medical Center of Arlington which is owned by the same company. any ideas how can i do it,and do you think its possible at all?
Should Obama ask Governor Rick Scott of Flordia for help in stopping Medicare Fraud? I think Rick Scott would be an invaluable help in stopping Medicare Fraud. He is a recognized expert in the field. Presiding as CEO of Columbia HCA Mr. Scott's hospital group managed one of the largest Medicare Fraud schemes in the history of the program, the corporation pleading guilty to 16 counts of Medicare Fraud and paying only 12 Million in fines. Not only is Mr. Scott a recognized leader in the field of stealing from the Public Treasury, but also an innovator in ways to keep from going to jail. Since Mr. Scott is now barred for life from doing business with Medicare, there would be no conflict of interest in his turning to public service as he can no longer stick his hands directly into our pockets. We need a man like Mr. Scott who can teach us how other weasels are gaming the system. The only conflict might lie int he fact that as a Tea Party Darling, Mr. Scott would like to see the system bankrupted now that he has no further use for it.
HIM or Health Care Administration what does each entail and what are the differences? 10 points!? I recently visited with a counselor at the school i'm going to. I want to become a hospital administrator eventually, so that means a HCA (Health Care Administration) degree would be better. She insisted that I get a degree in HIM (Health Information Managment) because it would give me a better job outlook in the medical field (i.e. Medical Coding or Director of an HIM department), but that means the salary of the job would be much lower and I wouldn't have the degree to become a hospital administrator. Then she presented me with the option of a double major in HIM and HCA , but that would require me to take an additional 26 credit hours which is around another full year (5 years total). I would be open to either degree or both degrees. Please help me and feel free to correct the counselor. 10 Points to the best answer!!! Thank you
Will my dads state health insurance cover a hospital bill for alcohol intoxication? Ok, so I was recently sent to the hospital for alcohol intoxication (when I looked at my diagnosis it said: affective bipolar disorder, suicidal ideations and alcohol intoxication because I have been diagnosed with bipolar disorder in the past, and when I got to the hospital I was just raging at the nurses) now, before anybody gives me crap about drinking too much, let me say that I have learned my lesson, so please don't lecture me. Anyways, my dad works for the state. His medical insurance is group health classic (the best one we can get), here is a link to look at the benefits my family gets (he is also the primary insurance provider for my family) http://www.pebb.hca.wa.gov/plans/group-health-classic.html My question is, if I have already reached $600 for the year for hospital stays (which i did in March when I went to a mental hospital for bipolar disorder), does that mean that my hospital stay and ambulance ride will be completely covered? If not, approximately how much will the out-of-pocket expense be? Also, just as a side note, my mom has insurance through the school district, I don't know what exactly it is, but i know that hers will do double coverage (I've actually never had to pay copayments when I see my psychiatrist because of this). So if there IS any out of pocket expense, does that mean that my moms insurance would just cover it? http://www.pebb.hca.wa.gov/plans/kaiser-permanente-classic.html I believe that this is the insurance coverage that my mom has. After talking to the group health on the phone, they said that when i stayed at the mental hospital, it was completely free for my parents (insurance covered the entire $23,000 bill or something crazy like that). Anyways, just some extra info, im just kinda nervous about this and wanna make sure the bill will be under $300 or so cause i can afford that)

job advice? I work in a hospital, but looking for work in the United states, I'm a HCA but on all the job websites they are looking for r.n or c.n.a's can anyone give some advice to help
I feel as though I am struggleing to make my life worth it? I had met a lot of guys who mess me about. So everytime a guy says is interested in me I think the worst of them. I'm failing at everything I do. I always get told I am very attractive and very nice. I work in a hospital so I am contributing to society however a a HCA i get looked down on a lot. I feel like I have to work so much harder then everyone else but I geninly am not getting anywhere. I'm 30 and the way things have been I don't think they will get better.
What should I do my job isn't working for me Every day I go in I am anxious.? I have worked as a HCA for nine years, And I am about to turn 30. I am at college two nights a week. The problem is that I work in a big hospital on a ward where I keep being moved. I am always told to go and work on another ward. But surely if they have not got enough staff they should be speaking to HR or the internal nursing agency. I have become very anxious about going into work on the daily. Just in case they move me onto another ward. It makes me feel devalued. My boyfriend said I should just resign and go on the dole till I find something else. But I don't think thats a good idea. I do realize how lucky I am to have a job though
What do you think about the entry for nursing being a degree at a time when nurses are not really valued? If it is currently difficult to retain nurses and the pay is poor in comparison to other professions such as the police, ambulance and fire fighters Is it not going to put people off going into nursing? Also Health care assistance/auxiliary nurses get a bad deal as it is so they may get left way behind in pay reflection. Health education is often limited for HCAs which is also a reason for increasing sickness and low self worth. Which makes young HCAs want to leave and study for other careers. As they often feel like glorified cleaners. And so this degree may add status to a nurse making HCA's feel less worthy then staff nurses. People wanting to go into nursing may feel they are much better off or can make a difference in other careers that will pay more. However They may think it is a Great Idea giving them more experience as with patients and the multidisciplinary team (MDT). And so they possibly may feel as though they will be more ready for their career as a nurse. Another thing to consider is that nurses have to fork out to pay for their pin numbers so that they can work as a nurse. Nursing in my view is a sacrifice and a truly charitable job to work in as they are very much short changed. When you think of the pay starting at around £19000-230000. And a fireman gets around £30 000. It makes me mad to hear that train drivers are being paid around £38000. Nothing in life comes easy but it is obvious as to why hospital wards are struggling for staff making wards so much less pleasurable for staff to work on and putting patients lives in danger. The government need to stop rewarding themselves and start rewarding the people who could one day be saving or helping to maintain their lives.
Job offer... is this a scam? If so, how would they scam me? I replied to a posting on Craigslist asking for some one who could take care of their grandmother. The listing was flagged, and I can't figure out why. Something just doesn't seem right about it, but I can't figure out what... here's the email I got from him. Does it sound like a scam to you? Hello, Thanks for your response to the job position on the craigslist.I am very sorry for my late in respond to your email. I need a HCA for my Grandma (Rose) to help her in dressing, meals, bathing, bed to chair, housekeeping, shopping, some errands and probably medical check up for her when needed to. She is recovering from a stroke, so she will need pretty much standard care including dressing, transferring, all bathroom care (brushing teeth, hair, care with bed/leg bags, bowel program, showering) etc. You can put up your own schedule that would not get in between your working hours. You just need to let her know when you're free and able to see her and she would pick out for those hours. If at any point in time she needs to be taken to the hospital it would be separately paid for.All i want is a reliable person, caring and trustworthy who will be able to take good care of my Grandma whenever the need arises. She is currently not in the area but need to get someone lined up before she arrives. Her arrival date would be sent to you later on. I am offering you $500 weekly and you will make yourself available the times needed are 1hrs in morning Mon, Wed, Friday and 2hrs in the evening for the same day. I'd like you to know that my financier here in united state will be sending your payment that will cover your first week payment and my grandma mobility expenses via an authorized certified check.I want you to know that after you have you have deduct your first week payment, the remaining funds will be sent to the mobility agent for her travel expenses, accommodation and any other expenses.Let me know if you're fine with the arrangement. I require you then to send me the following details : FULL NAME: MAILING ADDRESS: CITY: STATE: ZIP-CODE: CELL PHONE: HOME PHONE: BEST TIME TO CALL: Possible Working hrs: Any mode of identity: I'll send the details to my assistant to prepare and send the payment across to you with her travel itineary and whatever else needs to be done.Hope to hear from you asap. I believe you will be able to take care of her as good as you can. Thanks
