How many hospitals are in Chicago and which ones are the best ones? How many hospitals are in Chicago and which ones are the best ones? I will soon be an RN and want to work in a good hospital in the Chicago area. I have never been to Chicago so I do not know what it is like there, where I will live, or how far away my workplace would be. What are your experiences with the Chicago hospitals?
How much do hospitals charge for blood transfusions? I donate blood six times a year. I know that hospitals would have to charge for processing and testing and storing the blood but I don't want to think that the hospital would make a big profit by charging an exhorbitant amount of money for blood that I am giving up for free. Any nurses or hospital workers know how much is charged?
What does a dog have to do in order to visit hospitals? I want to take my 9 y/o blue heeler/catahoula to once of the local hospitals to cheer up pediatric, oncology and cardiac patients? What will be required of her in order to visit. She has a minor heart condition that doesn't have any negative affects on her, other than having to take medicine. So I think that the cardiac patients would enjoy having something in common with her. She's really sweet, patient, loyal and disciplined. She is also very obediant. I think that she would be a great candidate for any programs that might allow her to go to hospitals. If she can't go to hospitals do you think that nursing homes would be happy to have her visit? I laready have the AKC's Canine Good Citezen Progran Participant's Handbook, we have foound an evaluator in our area and are working toward the goal of a certificate.
What treatments are given to newborns in hospitals? When a baby is born in the hospitals what do the nurses and doctor do to the baby? I know they cut the cord and weigh and measure. I've heard of vitamin K shots and testing the blood. What else do they do?
How hygenic are our hospitals in mumbai? Hi, I am very worried about about going to any hospitals in the city. Even If I know a person that comes from the hospital, I try to keep distance from him thinking that I might get some deadly viruses from them. How practical is this situation ie) getting some viruses from a person that have gone to hospital or when we go to hospitals? What are probability of this happening in normal life?
How can you get a dog certified to visit people in hospitals? I'm thinking about getting a new dog (possibly a westie). And I have heard about how you can get them certified to visit people in hospitals (which would probably be a really interesting experience). How would i be able to get a dog certified? Is there a place that i can go to somewhere in South Florida to get a dog certified. Any information and websites are appreciated.
Is it legal for hospitals to bill or ask for a medical insurance for a work related injury? For some reason I thought if you had a work related injury, hospitals had to bill the workers comp and it was illegal for them to bill any private medical insurance. I know auto insurance has a cap, like $100,000 personal injury and once that runs out the medical insurance starts being billed but for some reason I thought it was different with work comp claims. Was I wrong?
At what amount do insurance companies and hospitals consider a bill a medical catastrophy? Within the last 3 months my husband has had two brain surgeries and his thyroid removed...all cancer. We recieved treatment for each, all involving hospital stays, labs, specialists. The bills are literally over $500,000 and we are still recieving new ones daily. At what amount do insurance companies and hospitals consider a bill a medical catastrophy and charge these off?
What do you think of the closing of Mental Hospitals in Pennsylvania? At least four State run Mental hospitals have closed in Pennsylvania. Harrisburgh being the last one. The announcement in Harrisburgh, Pennsylvania was that the goal was to close all state hospitals and get the patients in the community and not locked up. Evidence indicates the longer patients are kept in a hospital facility the less likely they are to succeed in the community. The cost of running the hospitals is astronomical and most patients care is paid by welfare so financially it is not feasable to continue to run these with taxpayer dollars. How do you feel as a taxpayer? These State run hospitals have more employees than patients.
How much do lawyers who work for hospitals make (salary)? I will be graduating with a JD law degree and also a Masters in Health Administration, making health law the area of choice for my career. Does anyone know the range of jobs for lawyers working in/for hospitals as in-house counsel? I have tried to find answers online but could not find any. Thanks!
Should a medical school be responsible to provide transport to hospitals for medical studies? Why? Medical studies are conducted in hospitals during 3rd year of medical studies.I have a friend who is trying very hard to get her medical school to provide the university's own bus transport from the university's hostel to the hospital. The university's management has refused to do so.But next week they are giving her a chance to speak her mind. Please help contribute a few points to help her win the case. She is all on her own. THANK YOU.
When does the New Graduate Program for Nurses usually start in hospitals? I want to find a job as an entry-level nurse in a hospital here in San Fernando Valley in California. I would like to know when the New Grad Program usually start.. I heard they have it twice a year like Kaiser Permanente. But I would like to know when exactly.. And please.. what hospitals offer a great New Grad program for nurses? Thanx!
What is some volunteer work I can do in hospitals to help get into medical school.? I am interested in getting into med school then eventually become a transplant surgeon. I am currently a Junior in highschool and figured it's never too early to start getting experience in the hospital or whatnot. I would like to start doing volunteer work in hospitals, but don't know what I would be allowed to do. If you have any experience with this please let me know
What are the most popular major hospitals in NYC? What are the most famous large hospitals in New York City? I'm looking for ones that are known across the country. Thanks. Are any of these on Manhattan Island? I would like to become a radiological technician. I don't know if that helps at all.
How are bathrooms structured for long-term patients in hospitals? How are bathrooms structured for long-term patients in hospitals? I'm writing a story where two temporalily homless people try to sneak into a hospital to shower. I'm trying to figure out the actual layout of the bathrooms, where they're located, and their facilities so I can write the scene accurately.
I work in health care, usually hospitals is there a best way to check your own background for employment? I see there are background checking companies on the internet. How do the hospitals check/what companies do they use? I feel I have gotten turned down for positions I should not have and I need to know if there is something in my background checks or otherwise that I should know. I know I am a good person. I am a thoughtful/hardworking health care provider and I feel I should be employed full time. I appreciate your response.
Why do people usually complain about the English hospitals? Not the NHS in particular, they can be dodgy, but the Hospitals. Its the only English facility I havent had a problem with, in fact as a patient on Nightwatch program said 'They have restored my faith in human nature'! Its great to have something Great about England, and its free. So why do so many people complain then?
how can hospitals have poor hygiene and what is the superbug? on the news they talk about the superbug and staph infections caused by filthy hospitals. i dont go into hospitals everday but each time i have gone into one for any reason i have gotten the impression that its the cleanest place on earth. i always saw shiny floors and clean looking clean smelling restrooms. theres always a guy with a bucket of strong smelling soap water mopping a floor that looks like its already clean. where are these dirty hospitals?
Do you think hospitals should have the right to ask for proof of citizenship before treatment is given? Why should someone who is here illegally be given free medical services at hospitals but natural born citizens are not? Illegals are given better medical treatment than our own veterans at veteran's hospitals across the country who have poor services. They are not getting the treatment they should be getting. Why is this? And what should be done to stop illegals from receiving the medical care our own citizens should be receiving instead? I know a lot of you will say it's inhumane for hospitals to turn anyone away but shouldn't these services be reserved for the legal citizens of this country? The ones who really need it, not a lady who is giving birth - a pregnancy that could have been prevented in the first place by using birth control?
Where to find grants and funding for a puppet theater to tour hospitals? I am looking for directions and avenues to start a puppet theater company to tour hospitals and perhaps even schools. I have plenty of experience in mask making and puppetry. But I'm unsure how to get funding. I don't know if I want it to be a "not for profit" company. Primarily looking for advance for funding and any advce as far as how to find sponsors.
Does Philheath cover all medical costs at Government hospitals ? We in the UK look with envy and deep appreciation to the Philippines. We understand you have a great health care system with universal coverage, known as Philhealth. We understand it costs 100 pesos per family per month and covers all necessary treatment in Government hospitals, or for a supplemental fee, in private hospitals with private rooms and very good food. We would all love to come to the Philippines to live and to retire in paradise, but because we have only small pensions from our dearly beloved UK government we must be sure we could afford it. So please confirm our thinking is correct then we'll jump on the plane. Mabuhay !
Hospitals? Do you think Hospitals suck when they treat you differently when you have no Insurance.... ?
Hospitals? Has anyone else here been to psychiatric hospitals? -How long? -For what? -What did you have to do? -Diagnosis? Just curious cause no one else i know has... No, I mean i've been to two different hospitals, but no one (out of my family/friends) has been either...it'd be kinda nice to think it happens to other people, and what the different hospitals do and how they approach it
Hospitals...? An extremely modest man was in the hospital for a series of tests, the last of which had left his bodily systems extremely upset. Upon making several false alarm trips to the bathroom, he decided the latest episode was another and stayed put. He suddenly filled his bed with diarrhea and was embarrassed beyond his ability to remain rational. In a complete loss of composure he jumped out of bed, gathered up the bed sheets, and threw them out the hospital window. A drunk was walking by the hospital when the sheets landed on him. He started yelling, cursing, and swinging his arms violently trying to get the unknown things off, and ended up with the soiled sheets in a tangled pile at his feet. As the drunk stood there, unsteady on his feet, staring down at the sheets, a hospital security guard, (barely containing his laughter) As the drunk stood there, unsteady on his feet, staring down at the sheets, a hospital security guard, (barely containing his laughter), and who had watched the whole incident, walked up and asked, "What the heck is going on here?" The drunk, still staring down replied: "I'm not sure, I think I just beat the shit out of a ghost."
Hospitals.? What is the first thing which comes into your head when you think of a hospital? Thanks. It's for my college work :D
Hospitals??? So I'm making a "fake" resume for an assignment and for one of my references I made up "Dr. Martinez at Northwest Community Hospital" but the teacher said I needed to add the area of medicine? What is that??? Can someone help me!!!!!

Future of VA hospitals after universal health care? Could it be possible that there is a plan in the works to eliminate the V.A. hospital program? John McCain has said that veterans should be able to go to any hospital for treatment, that they shouldn't have to wait and wait in line at the veteran hospitals. Could this be a first step in closing down V.A. hospitals? Perhaps V.A. hospitals will be converted to "Universal Health Care" hospitals? With universal health care for all, what good are exclusive hospitals for veterans? Is it just for treating PTSD and performing amputations? What is the role of the V.A. hospital in a world with universal health care? Is it time to eliminate the V.A. hospital? http://www.thevillager.com/villager_134/politiciansonlyoption.html
More hospitals like Martin Luther Jr. Hospital? We all know that there are soo many more hospitals like this one, with really poor conditions. Media is focusing on this hospital because a death could have been prevented. I mean, a person had to die to the media's attention? It's a shame, and moreover, it's a shame that it was a hospital by the name of a justice leader. Los Angeles public hospitals have poor conditions/quality (most of them), and I suggest that we have a huge check-up on all hospitals. Who's to say that there can't be another hospital with another Rodriguez lying on the floor with no one to help her, and having the custodian SWEEP AROUND HER (man, that pissed me off the most)? What do you guys think?
In Hospitals, nowadays there is called master checkup, whether they perform well? find that there are many hospitals in Tamilnadu entered into a trick called "master check up". In a day they are collecting Rs 3500 per person ( it varies hospital to hospital). But all are in a hurry, even a healthy person will get frustrated and get hypertension. They are advertiseing everywhere like selling a product.I met a person yesterday: I have asked him what you are doing now? He told that he is marketing 'master check up" for a hospital. So we can now hospitals are marketing their health products He also told that in the name of master check up many hospitals are increaseing out patients and in patients: Even for small aielment they put him in the bed and take away money from his pocket: If he is a poor person he willget heart attack and die in the hospital itself.
Question regarding religious names and hospitals:? Many hospitals in the United States have religious names (not all of them). In the past I have been told that these hospitals were operated and maintained and managed by religious groups (thus the reason for the name) and that other hospitals were usually maintained by the community and some were private. Today it seems that all the hospitals are run by corporations (both of the one's in my birthtown are). With many of the Catholic hospitals the nuns or whoever are still very much a part of the hospitals (St. Mary's here still has the sisters of St. Mary and at Mercy in Oklahoma City the Sisters of Mercy are still there, but do not maintain, operate, or manage the hospital it's done by a corporation). So what about the other hospitals with names like Baptist, Presbyterian, Methodist, Lutheran, etc, etc, etc. Do the religions still have some part in those hospitals? What part/role do they have? Today, is there a difference between the 'religious' named and nonreligious named hospitals? I've heard people say that the hospitals that are religious named tend to be better funded or other differences. I was just wondering what the differences between them and the one's without religious names are (because I don't see a distinction) and wondered if the religious groups that have their name on the hospital still participate in the hospital or if the name is still there just because that's what it was called before the corporate entity managed it. That's all. I'm not paranoid that those "pesky Christians" are controlling all aspects of my life. I personally don't consider Christians "pesky", I respect them and have many Christian friends.
Pennsylvania cities and hospitals...question for Pennsylvanians? I am from California and am applying to a medical school in Philadelphia and I need to choose which hospitals I would like to do my 3rd and 4th years at. My choices are: 1. Crozer Chester Medical Center in Chester 2. Geisinger Health System in Danville 3. St. Luke’s Hospital in Bethlehem 4. Western Pennsylvania Hospital in Pittsburgh I don't want to live anywhere rural or "in the middle of nowhere." So, Pittsburgh seems suitable, but it's so far west and there aren't many big cities around it. I want to stay around the Philadelphia area because I can drive to New York and the surrounding cities. I am also looking for a city with diversity. In addition to considering the city where the hospitals are located, I need to consider the quality of the hospital. I want to work in a big busy hospital that has a good reputation. Please give me your suggestions as to which hospitals I should choose based on my city and hospital preferences. Thanks!!
Military hospitals vs regular hospitals????? Military hospitals vs regular hospitals????? After a long morning of fighting with my insurance company.... I have to make a decision for my prenatal care and delivery. Here are some details about me..... Im a high risk pregnancy case, 6 weeks along, I have 1 child which was born in a regular hospital. I have never delt with military doctors or care. I would appreciate any advice on military care and drs ( particularly Portsmouth Naval Hospital in VA) but any military hospital advice would help. Personal experiances would also help. I am also curious to know with military doctors does 1 doctor follow you through out your pregnancy or multiple doctors? Do they also have mid wifes? (I have also posted this under womens health because Im not quite sure where I should have posted this) Sorry! I appreciate all your help and stories. Please keep them coming!
Are there hospitals in the US, or worldwide, founded and named by religions other than Christianity? In other words, I've seen numerous hospitals like St. Lukes, or Baptist Hopstial, etc, that were founded by Christian organizations. What I'm curious about is, are there hospitals in the US, or in other countries, that are founded by other religions, that have the religion directly/indirectly referred to somehow in their name? (e.g. Buddhist Hospital, or Hindu, etc, etc.) I'm not trying to be coy, I seriously just don't know, and this is something I've thought about when passing hospitals in the US. Is Christianity generally the only religion that has established hospitals? Many good answers so far, thanks. MC Hummer, I wasn't looking for a condemnation of Christianity, though. I was asking a quesiton about hospitals.
the nhs hospitals? I live in the South East of England and all the hospitals around here are full of overflowing bins with needles sticking out of them, and according to the press maggotts falling out of the theartres air vents(BARNET HOSPITAL)The toilots are blocked up and more then once i have seen sh*t and pi*s all over the seat and floors. Then i had the experience of having to go to a hospital in Cambridge(ADDENBROOKE)My dad was in there for over a week having his stomach removed. Not once was there a bit of sh*t on the floor in the loos.the staff were fantastic the wards were spotless and i didnt see one bin overfilled. Also all the alcohol hand wash was always filled something that is very rare from the south-east of england........so my question is.....how can one nhs hospital be of such high standard and another be so filthy and disgusting that i would refuse my dog to go in there.i know not all hospitals are bad,Eastbourne dont seem to bad and no doubt there are some other good ones about SORRY TO HEAR THAT PRINCESS.GOOD LUCK SWEETHEART
Questions about the hospitals...? ok i might be a little early but i want to know everything i can to prepare myself. i have two hospitals to choose from, im leaning toward one more than the other for personal choices but i wanted to ask experiences labourers some things i should concider when choosing for sure where to deliver. both of the hospitals have a level 3? nicu which i love because that makes me not so nervouse but what else should i consider for a good hospital for not only me but my spouse, i want to tour the hospitals but i want ammo for questions. lol. thanks to all, i know all hospitals are diffrent just give me some things about what you all liked and hated in a hospital so i can evalute better.
What do you think Financial woes jeopardize area hospitals (Los Angeles) ? Nearly two dozen private hospitals in Los Angeles and Orange counties, accounting for up to 15% of beds in the region, are in dire financial straits and in danger of bankruptcy or closure, according to hospital administrators, industry experts and state data. The troublesome development follows the closure of community clinics and hospitals in recent years that has left the healthcare system seriously overburdened. If even a few other hospitals close or reduce costly critical-care services, it could mean longer ambulance rides to hospitals, additional delays in emergency rooms and less access to care, especially for poor and uninsured people. Among the hospitals in poor financial health, according to industry analysts, are Downey Regional Medical Center, Centinela Freeman Health System in Inglewood, Brotman Medical Center in Culver City, Century City Doctors Hospital and four Orange County hospitals owned by Santa Ana-based Integrated Healthcare Holdings Inc. including Chapman Medical Center in Orange and Western Medical Center in Santa Ana, one of three trauma centers in the county. In interviews, senior executives at Centinela and Downey said they were considering closing their emergency rooms. Downey's chief operating officer, Rob Fuller, added that his hospital could close entirely as early as next year if its financial picture didn't improve soon. http://www.latimes.com/news/local/la-fi-hospitals23sep23,0,1253335.story?coll=la-home-center
Canadians using US Hospitals? I got a 3-4 pg research paper to do on this topic. Is it ethical for one country to use another's Health Care services? To narrow it down, is it ethical for Canadians to use Metro Detroit, MI hospitals...or Canadians to use Buffalo, NY area hospitals, or Canadians to come from Vancouver to Seattle area hospitals? (These are the 3 areas that I thought these scenarios happen) Possible Pro's: - More business for these area's hospitals (These cities need it) - We don't have long waiting lists like the Canadians do. Possible Cons: - How do our hospitals determine who to care for first: a few Canadians who need an urgent surgery..or a local who needs urgent care?
Did You Know That Hospitals, As We Know Them Today, Were First Established By Early Muslims? They offered the best available medical service at that time and cared for all people free of charge. Muslims are honour-bound to provide treatment for the sick, whoever they may be. The first organised hospital was built in Cairo in 872CE. The Ahmad ibn Tûlûn Hospital treated and gave free medicine to all patients. It provided separate bath houses for men and women, a rich library and a section for the insane. Patients deposited their street clothes with the hospital authorities for safe keeping, before donning special ward clothes and being assigned to their beds. Each patient would also have his or her own medical record. Hospitals like these flourished as Muslim rulers competed to see who could construct the most dvanced centres. They spread all over the Muslim world reaching Sicily and North Africa. The earliest Muslim hospitals were funded by charitable religious endowments, called waqf, and some money from the state coffers was also used to maintain some hospitals.
Hospitals and Customer Service...Where has it gone? We all have our fair share of horror stories at a hospital. But I've come to disrespect a small percentage of nurses and doctors who seem to forget that hospitals are businesses that have customers who should demand outstanding customer service. I mean - if I stayed in a hotel that cost $2,500 a night - I think I would expect to be treated well. So tell me, what hospitals have you had experience with that people should know about (both good and bad)?
Should hospitals and other public services charges people for parking? Mr.GorgeousFluffpot had an Xray today and we parked in the hospital parking bay. He was in there for ten minutes and we had to pay £2 ... yes, £2, for the parking!! I should add that all the local roads around there are double-yellow lines so there's nowhere else to park. But this hospital is difficult to reach by bus and the nearest train station is a distance away. Mr. GF and I could have walked, if we really wanted to, but some people have no choice if they are ill or infirm. We pay enough taxes so why should the hospitals then try to charge you, or tax you, on getting there for essential services? What do YOU think? *goes off in a huff and sits down to compose a very rude letter to the hospital director*! Aaaah, Level8, you are so sweet! Thank you, Mr.GorgeousFluffpot is blushing down to his little fluffy booties!
Do most hospitals hire Physician Assistants? I want to work in the medical field and I want to work in a the emergency department. If I decide to become a Physician Assistant then I would apply for residencies in emergency medicine or surgery. I would like to work in a big city hospital in California. For example hospitals near San Francisco, San Jose, Los Angeles, or San Diego. Do a lot of hospitals employ physician assistants in these areas? I think I can make the biggest difference working in a hospital rather than a private practice. Thank you for your help.

Why are hospitals so dirty? Hot dog manufacturers have to pass cleanliness by the BOH. Why not hospitals.? Why do so many patients die from hospital aquired infections? Because the hospitals are dirty. Doctors do not change their lab coats sometimes for a month. The blood pressure machine carries bacterier to each patient because they are not clean and they are used on several patients without having them cleaned. Because the staff does not wash their hands properly. Over 100,000 patients die each year from hospital infections. What should we doooo?
Why GP offices, GP’s, Hospitals and hospital stuff are so unhygienic and dirty in UK? Recently, because of health problems I’ve been seen a lot of health specialists(waiting time to be seen by a specialist, it’s hard to believe, but is up to 8 months) and I’ve been visiting a lot of hospitals here in London, UK . I’ve been working in so many countries ,but I never seen such a unhygienic and dirty GP offices, GP’s, Hospitals and lazy and root hospital stuff in any other country? As far as I know they are getting well paid? Is UK living in the past?. This is 21 century, but not 18‘th century?. Instead of getting treatment in the hospital, so many people are getting, bacteria, infections or their condition in many cases gets worse in the hospitals and a lot of patients are a passing away before being seen by a specialist?Who is in charge? When will the health system will improve in the UK?Where are our Tax money?

Can hospitals or doctors send you to collections? I got stuck with a bill for $600 from a CAT scan that my insurance company decided to make me apply my deductable against. I recently lost my job and I talked to the hospital about trying to structure payment on a payment plan. They wanted me to pay $45 and I asked if I could pay less than that to stretch out the payments over a longer period of time. The person at the hospital said that if I pay less, then "the computer would kick my account to collections." When I told my wife, she said that hospitals and doctors can't send your account to a collections agency as long as you are making a good faith effort to pay the bill. Something similar happened to her a few years back for a similar amount and was able to pay far less than that amount on a monthly basis. Anyone have any ideas on this or any experience?
How much can hospitals charge? I recently was in the hospital, very unexpected, emergency gallbladder surgery. I didn't have very good insurance cause at the time I was looking for work, and was pretty healthy the last few years, and didn't think I would need it, at least for few months. I am older, so I can't get a decent insurance for what I can afford for being unemployed. Well the bill came, it was $35,000, plus I am getting bills from various other doctors, labs, and for x-rays and ultrasounds, some of which I never even had. I was in the hospital for about 4 days. I still am not working, but this is stressing me out so much, I feel I could get sick all over. Don't hospitals realize how this worry can cause more health problems. I take care of myself very well, I don't smoke, drink wine moderately, I walk a lot, don't even drive, ( which I have very small chance of getting in an accident), I go to a gym. Is it legitimate for hospitals to bill you soo high, especially when there is no itemization.

Greek hospitals? Actually I just need to make a point here. I am so fuming. I asked a question here before about giving birth in Greek hospitals and I got one or two questions that made me so angry. Basically they were telling me to go back home were so unbelieveably rude. I asked about drugs and delivery in Greek hospitals, what the policies were. If by practice they gave drugs if there were no complications, if for example that they preferred to deliver without drugs or something. To set the record straight I love my new country. I think the hospital system is the best I have ever experienced. Better than England, and better than my home country of Australia. My doctor is an absolute gentleman and I feel so safe and comfortable with him. I dont think Greece is a third world country and I never did. I love my new home in every aspect and respect its culture. AND I speak Greek and have Greek friends if you want to yell at me for that too. Sorry, just had to get that off my chest. bravo chrys! My sentiments exactly!
Do hospitals discharge patients on weekends? I am scheduled to have a c-section on a Thursday. My hospital stay has been approved for 4 days by my insurance company. But 4 days takes me through Sunday. Do hospitals discharge patients on Sundays? I just want to make sure we are out of the hospital on time and don't end up responsible for the cost of an extra day.
affliated hospitals question? i had gone to the hospital where my sister lives i live in another county im going to the hospital in my county these hospitals are affiliated with each other i know they allready have my insurance info on there computer but would they have my medical info as well and the reason for the previuos visit
Welsh Hospitals to get free parking? BBC Breakfast News this morning: Welsh people were complaining about the £2 for three hours they pay and were very pleased Wales plans to introduce free parking at all hospitals at a cost of around £5million. Wow! At my local hospital the cost is £2.50 per hour (!) and England have no such intentions about making patient parking easier or cheaper! How much is it to park at your local hospital and do you think it should be free or even a bit cheaper? Dave I think it does go back into each hospital so who is making up the difference for the Welsh then? Skidoo, I asked my midwife about this - her advice? "have your baby at night, parking is discounted over night!" I used to go to a hospital where you could not access the car park without showing an outpatient letter - much better idea
Insurance benefits at hospitals? When i'm done with school in about 6 months i'm going to be working in a hospital. Hospitals usually have excellent health benefits right? Is there an advantage of getting pregnant while working in a hospital verses working somewhere else? Do most hospitals offer free or reduced rate childcare while the parent is working? I am just trying to set my life up before getting pregnant. I'm trying to find out the best way to do things. It's all i can think about..
What hospitals offer genetic testing for rare syndromes? My son was diagnosed with Angelman Syndrome several years ago, a rare genetic disorder on the 15th chromosome. Although he was diagnosed with the syndrome, he has never tested positive to be actually genetically linked to the syndrome. His tests were performed at Cleveland Clinic and at Case Western through a government program studying this syndrome. I would like to have him tested at another hospital not affiliated with programs where results could have a direct effect on research grants. Are Baylor, Boston and Chicago Hospitals the only hospitals that offer testing on a private pay basis? Please help.
Do hospitals...? Hi. My daughter is very into the doctor, don't ask me why. For some time now, she's been wanting to go to a hospital, and have them examine her. Take her temperature, feel her forehead, listen to her heart, etc, but she doesn't want any shots or blood tests. Do hospitals offer free examinations to children age 12 who want one? It's what she wants, and I don't care either way. So, do they? By the way, I'm asking about hospitals in Upstate, New York. She does not want to go to the ER. I asked her why she wanted to go so badly, and she said: "I'm interesterd in becoming a doctor, and want to further look into what they do, so this might be educational." By the way, I am NOT making the doctors give her needles to change her mind. That's cruel. Also, she does get a physical every year...but she just got into becoming a doctor, and thinks this is a good way to get educated, I guess in a way...it is. I've spoken to her, and decided to make an appt. soon at the health clinic. We called, and they said a lot of kids her age are interested in becoming doctors, and they give low priced exams to them, by nurse practitioners. They said the exam goes like this: -height and weight -quick feel forehead, then take temperature -stethoscope -Otoscope (ears) -Throat -Eyes -Pulse and blood pressure -Feeling stomach for any abnormal swelling -Lung X-ray I like this plan, should I make the appt.?
How many hospitals are there in the UK? I need to know how many hospitals there are in the UK. What is the number of beds for each hospital? How are these hospital run; e.g. PFI or outsourced facilities? Do you know of some reliable sources of information where I can find out?
Hospitals support working visa for international nurses? does anybody know if hospitals provide working visa for international nurses who has pass the nclex and ielts? My gf has been in NY to complete these test, however we don't know if hospitals hire nurses in hawaii and provide them with working visas to stay in the US.
How clean ARE our hospitals? I know that the hospitals need to be kept clean to prevent infections, but really, how clean are our hospitals? (and the hospital's air.. I heard that patients usually develop pneumonia inside hospitals)
The ones who really need it, not a lady who is giving birth - a pregnancy that could have been prevented in the first place by using birth control?

hospitals? whats the point? well in the middle of the nite my waters went after having a week of slow labour. contractions have been irregular for over a week now and still are. i went to the hospital she checked me out and said that not all my waters have broken and that there is still enough for the baby. they wont bring on my contractions so there stronger and become regular so now ive gotta sit it out for them to do it themselves which could take another week maybe longer. whats the point in having hospitals if they dont help u the nurse could see i was in pain but apparently there not strong enough. well there strong enough for me. has anyone else had this? i have no idea what to do now i cant go anywhere because of these pains? what could i do to bring them on more strong. i cant take another week of this. its killin me. any ideas? i tried askin the nurse to give me something to make the contractions come regular and stronger and she just said no and i had to wait for my body to do it itself. this is like torture. i'm worried now that wen my baby is born im going to be so tired because the hospital are making me wait this out. and to the person on about hospital insurance....its free coz it NHS
State Mental Hospitals? We used to have them in Florida but evidently funding was depleted so most of the mentally ill have landed on the street -- well, maybe not most -- some have family who can still deal with it. Mental illness is very very serious. BECAUSE these hospitals had to shut down, the mentally ill living on the street come to the hospital where I work (some daily and some swallow things like razors, etc. just to get help) and of course, we do not and will not turn them away. BUT the government has to pay the tab (yes, meaning we do).....so what is the difference first of all? It seems that it would cost less to house them and care for them in a facility rather than the ER on an almost daily basis. Where do you live and do you have State Hospitals? I don't mean a place you get placed for 3 days....I mean a living facility for these poor folks. My heart goes out to them.
What do hospitals smell like? I'm working on my novel, and the MC is currently in the hospital after having what the doctors think was a sezure. The thing is, the only time I've ever actually been inside a hospital is when my father had his appendix removed when I was 10, and I don't remember much. So, do hospitals have any particular smell, like a dentist office, or do they just smell sort of... clean? Woah, thank you all so much! I didn't expect this much help... If you want to read what I have up so far you can go here: http://www.nanowrimo.org/eng/user/183291 (Just warning you, it's fantasy. I know some people don't like that.)
Sims 2 Hospitals? I have seen screenshots of the sims on sims 2 in hospitals with their newborns but I can't figure out how to have the babies born in the hospital or even have a hospital. Please Help!?
Why does hospitals not work harder and retaining and recruiting nursing staff? I sat in on a 2 hospital orientation yesterday and today. I work a honest to god Monday - Friday 8am to 5pm job and will be working weekends only for this new employer. ( working for an acute hospital but in their home health dept. ) Today as the last hour of orientation was wrapping up we were instructed that we will need to take 2 additional classes before our 90 day probationary period is up... both are 4 hours long and both are not available on weekends.. the hours don't mix well with my prior obligation and there were 2-3 other nurses who stated that they don't think that they can' meet this additional class requirement.. One is on customer service..and on is on Hippa. Both which were covered extensively in our 16 hours of orientation.... I feel that hospitals are short nurses for a reason! THey are not realistic about some of their expectations and all we heard during the last 2 days was write up this, write up that... not a good message they are sending out. 22 minutes ago - 3 days left to answer. Additional Details 20 minutes ago I also pointed out the needed classes should be available for those of us who work weekends only... the instructor said they aren't and we can be written up if don't attend.. IS THIS **** FOR REAL? IT ISN'T A JACHO REQUIREMENT. Hello jello head.... they knew I was available weekends only... that is what I was hired for. Your attitude like many others of has caused nursing to be where it is today... stuck.. and incredibly short. Like yourself as with many nurses...they are not willing to stick up for others... just point out how smart they themselves are.. so don't jump to conclusions.
Do you know that hospitals overcharge patients all the time? You should ask for an itemized hospital bill. I found out from 2 friends working billing for a hospital on how hospitals rip off people. I had a friend of mine get a c-section and the hospital charge her for stirup pads and all kinds of stuff. A common overcharge is for medicine, you never take. Don't even ask what they charge you for a tylenol. Even if you never take one. You get charged for everything, that cheap plastic water jug and cup, better take it, you paid for it.
Ambulance is must for all the hospitals either it is private or govt hospital? On 2nd october 2007, I lost my mother, due to lack of ambulance. In chennai most of the private hospitals have no ambulance or sufficient duty doctors at night. Another thing government should order atleast 2 doctors and six nurse must work at night shift to see the emergency patients. I request donors to donate ambulance to all private hospitals in chennai and other cities as early as possible to save more people. Another thing hospital doctors not attend the patient in their home in night. Govt should order all the doctors must go to patient house and give the treatment. Every life is important in this earth. But doctors told me, their hospitals rules doesn't allow to go patient house and give treatment. This is rediculous. Please help me in this regard. This question only to create awareness amoung the people in chennai. That any thing happen to anybody in night. Death is the ultimate result. I request all the doctors please save the human life hereafter. Money is secondary one.

Will hospitals really pay for your nursing school? Hi all, I've heard that some hospitals will pay for your nursing school if you agree to work for them after, but how does one go about inquiring what hospitals will pay for your nursing school? Thanks.

charity hospitals? Does anyone have the names of charity hospitals in the Memphis, Tennessee and Little Rock, Arkansas areas. A member of my family is ill and needs testing. He has no health insurance and very limited income. Will certainly appreciate assistance in locating a hospital.
Do hospitals accept non-citizens on a visitor visa giving birth in the United States? If a woman is in the United States on a legal visitor visa and she needs to give birth, are hospitals obligated to take care of her or not? What would the procedures be? If yes, how long do they take care of the mother before/during birth and after? Or is it just a matter of having some kind of health insurance? Also, I have previously heard that mothers of babies born in the United States (citizens by birth that is) are allowed to legally stay in this country. Is that true and what is this based on in the legislature? Same questions for a woman in the US on an expired visitor visa. Would she be allowed/denied hospital stay for birth, etc.? Thanks a lot. Any extra information about this type of situation would be helpful.
Dirty hospitals? I had the misfortune to stay in hospital. The cleaner came onto the ward took a paper towel and wiped round the sink. then he swept the middle of the ward and left!!! I think that hospitals should employ their own cleaners and bring back matron to supervise. What do you think?
