Question about contacting law firm? I contacted a law firm about 3 months ago to file a medical malpractice lawsuit and I signed the retainer agreement. How long should it take for them to call me back to let me know if they will take on the case or not?
Looking for an attorney who specializes in medical malpractice cases involving drug companies? I was born in 1958 and exposed to a drug which originally marketed under the the name Thalidamide,but was administered in this country as Kevadon.It caused me to be born with a birth defect to my hands.I was told that there is a law firm that has a list of the doctors who prescibed the medication to women who were experiencing morning sickness while pregnant.Unfortunately for me the hospital I was born in (Provident-Baltimore City)destroyed all records.Although I'm now 49 yrs old I'm still experiencing problems.There also seems to be the matter of the statue of limitations.But I wouldn't have known about the drug Kevadon if it were not for my research into the drug Thalimide which was not suppose to be marketed in this country.I have no medical insurance to help me seek the medical attention I need with the current problems I'm having with my right hand.Do I have any way to compensated?Please if there's anyone who can help me let me know.
This is a question for Aussies. I want to go to Law school either next year or the year after. Now I want to? if I could do that course to become a lawyer part time? Becasue I also want to work part time as well and earn a bit of money on the side. I have not done year 12 when I was at school. I am 38 years old and if I do this degree I will be about 43-44 when I graduate, and start working and retire at 65. That would be about 20 years in the profession. What Universities in Melbourne is the best one to study either corperate Law, Medical Malpractice, Aviation Law, employment Law or immergration Law. I have not decided on what field I will specialise in yet. But which uni is the best to study the above? How long will it take me to study part time? And full time I hear about 3-5 years. Medical Malpractice to ask? My mother had a medical malpractice case but she passed away 9 months ago.Now my sister trying to pick up where she left off. She is trying to keep me and my brother in the dark about whats going on.My mother didn't have a Will. Can my sister claim anything without us knowing.And is there anyway that I can find out which law firm she has this case with in the Philadelphia area.
Medical Malpractice Arbitration Plaintiff Consolidation? Myself and 2 sisters have filed a demand for arbitration and listed each of us as plaintiffs. The malpractice concerns the death of our Mom. The large HMO hospital in Southern California has a large law firm representing their interests as respondents. The law firm sent each of us 5 documents with questions and production of documents (5 docs times 3 sisters = 15 replies). I want to know if there is a motion or procedure I could use to consolidate our Arbitration so that the 3 of us will be considered 1 plaintiff. The law firm has requested copies of all documents, records, notes, etc... to each of us individually, but there is no way that we should be required to copy and submit 3 copies of the same information regarding the treatment of our Mom. How can I get the Respondent and/or arbitrator to group the 3 of us as 1 plaintiff?
Is this normal practice for a medical malpractice case? My daughter was paralyzed after rectal surgery on June 30, 2008. We contacted a law firm in July 2008 and we signed a retainer. We have yet to hear from them as to whether they will take the case or not. They never call us. Whenever we want information we always have to initiate the call. I think we rushed into it without doing our research on this well known law firm and they are located in the same state as the hospital. Should we contact another law firm and if so, would this original law firm still have to get paid for the work they've done, if any? Is this normal practice...should it take almost 8 months to tell the client if you will at least take the case or not?
I need a medical Malpractice Lawyer who would agree to get paid after the case is settled.? Is this legal malpractice? I filed for social security disability and was denied, but there was only 1 reason why I was denied, because I can still do the same work I did in my past job. Then I hired a social security disability law firm. My claim was denied again. The explanation of determination mentions my Aspergers and ADHD (something I disclosed to my attorneys that I no longer have but now have autistic, anxiety, and personality disorders). It says the medical record shows I am able to communicate, act in my own interests, adjust to orindary emotional stresses, get along with others, and do my usual daily activities without assistance. The medical record also shows that I am capable of performing other work that might only require a very short, on-the-job training period. Based on the fact it went from 1 reason I was denied to MANY reasons I was denied, do you think my law firm committed legal malpractice?

What is a fair amount to ask for ??? My daughter works for a law firm in the dallas metroplex. She is currently a legal secretary. She works in a firm with apx. 10-20 attorneys and 15 legal staff. They do school law,litigation and school tax, they also have a bankruptcy department handled by one person. They recently lost that person and offered her the position. She has heard it is a lot of work and a lot to handle. she has no bankruptcy experience but has been in the legal field 10 years. Family law, civil litigation, medical malpractice, tax and realestate. They asked her to tell them what she believes a reasonable or fair raise would be for her new position. she currenly makes about $19 hour and would like to stay hourly with this firm because they work a lot of over time. Can you give me some career ideas? I have hit a wall in my job search and I would love your help! I was a journalism/advertising major in undergradute. I went to a good state school in the Midwest and graduated in the top 1/3rd. I learned a great deal about writing, branding, marketing, sales and design (among other things). However, I decided I wanted to go to law school. I went to another good school in the midwest and finished in the middle of my class. I then moved to California and took the bar and passed on the first try. My legal experiences include: clerking for a year for a state civil law judge, interning for a British criminal law barrister, clerking for a medical malpractice defense firm, and working as a legal contract temp attorney on class action and patent cases. My other talents include photography, writing, and doing just about anything on a computer. So my question is, what advice do you have for potential careers, both traditional and non-traditional? Why are SOOO many women these days just pretty much...? Gold Diggers?! Seriously...like I don't mean to like stereotype here or anything but I find this to be very true. I'm currently working towards getting into Law school and just this past Winter I had an opportunity to intern with a Law firm in downtown Chicago for Medical Malpractice Lawyers. Several of the people I got to meet there were well established successful men: lawyers, Doctors, magistrates, physicians, businessmen, etc. I got to meet up several of them and ask them questions. AND most these guys were like in their 40s to 60s. However what blew me away was, I swear my life to you, that the MAJORITY of these men (like I'm talking about 80% here) were all married (or dating) very and I MEAN very young & attractive women in their 20s. No joke! And these guys aren't attractive looking at all! I mean They're smart and successful but they are most certainly not the dating type... Hell I even got to meet an 75 year old college professor who was married to a beautiful 29 year old Latina woman. And I'm not even kidding here! I swear my life on it! I mean seriously can someone please help me understand why else these young women would marry/date these successful men beside of their money??
My Boyfriend's former sexual partner lied about having an STD. Can she get in trouble for doing this? After we had been dating a few months, out of nowhere one day she sent him a text message saying, I think you should go to see your doctor and have a test done. He had asked her what test would he need to go get? She replied back saying that he had given her herpes and that he should go pay to have a test done because he had a new girlfriend now. Well I wasn't unemployed at the time and since i am still eligible to stay on my dads insurance i still am, but his insurance is not very good and they don't cover the costs of a test to check for herpes. I did not have the money at the time and knew my annual check-up appointment with my OB/GYN was 4-5months away and thought I would just wait until then. Because if he did give me herpes it had maybe been a few weeks that we had been sexually active, so since I am studying in college to be a nurse I knew that even if he did give me it the test results would not show it in my system so it was fine that i would just wait. Well when at my check-up I had my doctor do the normal exam and then an std exam. my test results came back negative for everything. So i had paid out of my pocket at the doctors appointment for the STD's test as an add on to my other exam for no reason and my boyfriend never had positive results come back for it either. I work at a law firm which deals with plenty of medical malpractice cases for a big insurance company in the area and I wanted to know if there is any sort of legal action i can take against this woman for lying about my boyfriend and/or I having herpes all because she was jealous over us being together (she did a lot of crazy things all in attempt to break us up because she wanted him so badly.) So if i am able to press charges on her for this, please someone let me know because at least then i will be more inclined to asking one of my bosses to help me out with the case. QUESTION ABOUT MEDICAL MALPRATCICE? My wife had a hysterectomy about 2 years ago which was botched. After 6 or 7 major and minor surgeries to save her, wound care til the present and home nursing along with all the associated heartache... let's skip the details: We finally went to two different law firms to attempt to sue for malpractice. Both had "experts" review the medical records (we had to pay for them; not cheap). Both firms came to the conclusion that there was, indeed, Malpractice and something called Failure to Provide Expected Medical Care or some such thing. Anyway: Both firms said that, although the case had "merit" and proof, the "Return On Investment" was not adequate for them to accept the case. As one "honest" attorney said, "I've got a Mesarati sitting outside I've got to pay for...Sorry, Good bye". My Question: Where is the line between ethics and profit? This happened in Indiana where there is a cap on malpractice and other restrictions. Hey, if Obamacare comes in, can we revisit this? After I'm a UAW member (lol)... It's lost. Simplest and easiest way to find MALPRACTICE attorney which can work in more than one state in USA? I have been gathering information about what appears to be negligence and malpractice done on family member currently in hospital. It is not the basic wrong medication_which that has happened as well_but rather what seems to family as systematic abandonment of normal, basic nurse supervision of patient in charge, and absolutely cloudy (at best) information from doctor concerning many aspects of patient's well being. I cannot mention words such as "prognosis" or even "course of treatment" because they gave up on her without even really trying. And have repeatedly tried to sell us off on just letting her die. PLEASE, since I have so much information to share with someone who would definetely be much more knowledgeable on these issues, and knowing that most attorneys would not even start to look at a case unless person goes into an agreement with them. And since I cannot affford to keep wasting time, mostly because I have to be much more vigilant of her condition now that I notice less care from medical professionals, can someone please tell me most direct way possible to find law firm which can work out of my state if necessary???

8 month old in the hospital. Many Questions and Attorney Questions.? My son is 8 months old (born March 2008). When he was 4 days old he got the rota virus. We took him to the hospital while they toyed with him and eventually transferred us to another hospital (a university medical center). He was hook up to a pick line and TPN until the virus cleared and then we started feeding with the bottle. Since then he has always been a small eater so the GI doctors put him on 30 calories per ounce in September 2008. Around late September he just stopped sucking. He would pull the bottle to his mouth and go through the motions, but he was not sucking anything (it was like he forgot what to do in his mouth). In the beginning of October, we took him back to the University Hospital and had him in the ER and they admitted him. They put an NG tube into his nose and in his stomach to feed him. He seemed fine for a few days. The hospital conducted a dy color test to see what was going on. Shorty after he begin throwing up anything that was put into his stomach. The doctors places the NG tube into his colon to stop the vomiting. My Son then begin to have diarrhea. I came to the hospital and saw my son and he did not look right. I ask the doctors was something wrong and they just said he been through a lot so he probably does not feel good. I demanded that someone come in a take his blood and do tests on it. The tests came back and his sodium levels were off the charts! because of the diarrhea probably. Basically, my son was extremely dehydrated. He was pale and looked like death! It was disgusting looking... They had to move my son to ICU and hook him up to IV's and stop the feeding. Question 1: How could my son became dehydrated in a hospital, while he was being monitored, unless someone did not do there job? After a little more then a month in the hospital, the doctors placed a G-Tube (button port) in my son. Now my wife and I can put food directly into his stomach. My son was discharged and we went home. He was fine for about 3 days... then we noticed he was crying a lot more and his stomach was hard as a rock. We took him back to the hospital ER and they did X-Rays and found his colons were packed with poop, air pockets and whatever else. They gave laxatives and sent us home after about 2 days in the hospital. A few days later he began vomiting. He vomited his food every time we gave it to him. Even when we only gave him his medicines, he would throw that up also. We had to go back to the hospital ER again, and again admitted. We have now been in the hospital for a week this time. The doctors are running some acid reflux tests. I'm concerned about the fact that no one seems to be on the same page - doctors, nurses, assistants. *For example today: Doctor says, We will be putting the acid tube in your son tomorrow because we have to wait 5 days with no reflux medicines. 30 minutes later another doctor come in and put in the acid tube in my sons throat. I asked about the 5 day thing and she said its okay, it was long enough. *Another example today: Doctor said, we won't put him on a 30 ml bolus feeds because we know he threw up last night - I responded back and said he didn't throw up last night and was never on 30 ml boluses. The doctor told us that the paperwork said so. Did someone just write something in the medical record (that did not happen)? These examples were just from today. Everyday there's stuff like this and it makes me feel like it's a horrible hospital. This hospital is basically top of the line (they say). The only other option is John Hopkins University but they don't have a beds open and we can't transfer because my son is considered to be monitored and they would do nothing different. Because of this, I cant even get a second opinion. I have talked to one attorney and he said that they can not get involved until after the hospital is done. Then, I can contact the law firm about malpractice. The thing is --- I don't want to sue anyone. I don't want any money. I would just like the hospital to get on the same page with each other and fix my son. Is there anything else I can do to somehow light a fire up there butt? Are there lawyers out there for this? My Lawyer screwed me what can be done now.? I was injured by a door that fell off of a medical building in 2005. My lawyer got sick during the period of time from 2005 to 2009 and turned over the case,partialy , to another law firm, they did their part in gathering medical bills ect. and getting the case prepared for resolution. My Attorney took the case back in August 2008, before the statute of limitations ran out. He filed the lawsuit seven days before the deadline, I had to call him every week to remind him to file on time. He sent a request for settlement but failed to have the parties served on time, past the 120 day deadline. When he finally did get ahold of the insurance company they told him he was past the statutes of limitations and they would give him 5,ooo dollars to settle because that is what they would spend on an attorney to get the case thrown ut and they would get it thrown out. I have a copy of the request for settlement in the ammount of 750,00 dollasrs US. His reply to me was this is it take it or leave it, I screwed up and miscounted the days. Take the 5,000 and I will represent you in any further legal matters for free. I would tell you to sue me but my malpractice insurance has lapsed. I my shock I signed the release and took the five grand. Less than 24 hours later I came to my senses and asked him to NOT send the release and I have not cashed the check. He stated he sent it out right away and it was too late. What if anything can I do to reopen this case and get my money? It tore my rotator cuff, which I didi not have repaired surgicly as I should have done I also suffered a very strained wrist ligament which I also declined to repair surgicaly but under went many, many weeks of self physical therapy to finally get to the point where I can do most things without pain. The surgery on my neck was a c-3/c-4, c-4/c-5 immobilization with plate and screws. The surgery will have to be repeated two more times, once to do c-5/c-6 and once to do c-2/c-3 so that by completion my neck will be completely immobilized. The insurance company admitted to the liability and had no difficulty settling for the medical bills and recompense for pain and suffering. But as with any insurance firm they took the opportunity that the attorney gave them by being neglectful of the case and ran with it. I have not and will not cash the check. Is Economics, in general, a fraudulent hoax? It's certainly impossible for Economics to be a science or a real profession. People who claim to be economists can have 100% clashing views on everything related to economics and they can both claim to be 100% correct. Paul Krugman, for example is supposedly a Nobel Prize winner and some kind of genius, but his ideas NEVER correlate to those of Milton Friedman or other similar economists. Karl Marx was an economist and he certainly thought all of his evil ideas were 100% correct. Keynes ideas are always bounced around as well as "Austrian" economics. And none of these people or theories solve any problems. It would be like the medical profession saying that it's perfectly fine for some doctors to say that the cure for diabetes is aspirin and another say the cure is to be obese and another say the cure is to be thin. All professions, in accounting, medicine, law, engineering, nursing, etc have principles that always work and if you deviate, you wind up with a bridge that falls down or a patient that dies or you get sued for malpractice, etc. There might be some experimentation on the side and a few bad decisions, but the science is quite hard and firm. Not with economics. So why should we trust our entire planet and economy on the ideas of a few pinheads who think they have the right to control everyone's money? Especially when their theories are all bull shyt?

Will Americans blame "illegal imigrants" for their crummy professional job outlook? Especially in fields like law and medicine? According to many harvard admission officers, they are experiencing a great shortage in qualified law and med students. There are about 180 accredited law-schools and only graduating from a select 10 would land you a job at a firm, most lawyers work in retail or are homeless. Malpractice insurance for doctors has been rising 5% every year since 2007 and is now 35% of all that medical physicians gross (not to mention overhead expenses). Medical schools across the U.S are even debating setting their acceptance bar lower. So who will you Americans blame for being incompetent and less intelligent? Is it the "illegal immigrant's" fault that you all are so stupid bearing in mind they can trace their ancestry to these lands further back than you? Is that so? Then why are most Lawyers out of work and more than 300 medical licenses have been revoked during the starting of the year?!? LOL Bear: Actually, you might want to even check in the law & legal section. There are more than a dozen lawyers working retail or living with their parents again warning younger students not to pursue law. There have also been books, documentaries, articles written about this problem.
Paralegal Internship Resume Help. I need help with forming my objective. I'm applying for a paralegal intern? I'm a paralegal student who is completely done with all of her classes except the three credit hour internship class. I need to do a 135 working hour internship with either a local law firm or government agency. I've found a few internships and am now creating a completely new resume because my resume from two years ago has changed and also isn't tailored to what I am looking for. So far, the only thing that I have for my objective is "To acquire an internship position as a paralegal where I can..." and I'm stuck after that point. My objective is to work 135 hours (paid/ or unpaid but preferably paid), to gain paralegal experience and knowledge in any area of law (preferably criminal law, family law, or some sort of civil area such as personal injury or medical malpractice), and to possibly get a job at the same place as my internship after the internship is done. The only problem is that I don't know how to put that all in words without sounding greedy. Also I was told that a good objective not only focuses on what an employer can do for me but what I can do for the employer. Any suggestions on wording that I can use. Thanks much. Oh and ask me if you don't understand so I can better explain this. The rest of my resume and cover letter are done it's just that I'm so stuck on this objective part.
