Are there hospitals in the US, or worldwide, founded and named by religions other than Christianity?
In other words, I've seen numerous hospitals like St. Lukes, or Baptist Hopstial, etc, that were founded by Christian organizations. What I'm curious about is, are there hospitals in the US, or in other countries, that are founded by other religions, that have the religion directly/indirectly referred to somehow in their name? (e.g. Buddhist Hospital, or Hindu, etc, etc.) I'm not trying to be coy, I seriously just don't know, and this is something I've thought about when passing hospitals in the US. Is Christianity generally the only religion that has established hospitals? Many good answers so far, thanks. MC Hummer, I wasn't looking for a condemnation of Christianity, though. I was asking a quesiton about hospitals.

- "The very first hospitals were built around AD800 in Baghdad and they were much more sophisticated than the simple monastic hospices that grew up in Western Europe several hundred years later, said Emilie Savage-Smith of St Cross College in Oxford."
- Muslim countries started the "Red Crescent" as a means not to use the name "Red Cross", even though the Red Cross is not a religious aid organization. You can be sure that in many countries where there is a dominant religion that hospitals bear their names. Religious names on hospitals serve the same purpose as corporate names on sports stadiums: it's advertising intended to increase corporate revenues. After all, every religion is just a business scam, selling a product that they can't deliver while you're alive, and after you're dead, they won't refund you or your family.

- There's a hospital in Indiana not named after anything religious. It's named after a prominent family. Ball Memorial Hospital in Muncie. As to who has established the most hospitals, I don't know.
