Medical Malpractice

Did You Know That Hospitals, As We Know Them Today, Were First Established By Early Muslims?

They offered the best available medical service at that time and cared for all people free of charge. Muslims are honour-bound to provide treatment for the sick, whoever they may be. The first organised hospital was built in Cairo in 872CE. The Ahmad ibn Tûlûn Hospital treated and gave free medicine to all patients. It provided separate bath houses for men and women, a rich library and a section for the insane. Patients deposited their street clothes with the hospital authorities for safe keeping, before donning special ward clothes and being assigned to their beds. Each patient would also have his or her own medical record. Hospitals like these flourished as Muslim rulers competed to see who could construct the most dvanced centres. They spread all over the Muslim world reaching Sicily and North Africa. The earliest Muslim hospitals were funded by charitable religious endowments, called waqf, and some money from the state coffers was also used to maintain some hospitals.

  1. Did you know that I don't give a ****?
  2. I just had to roll up my britches legs. Man its deep in here.
  3. Did you know that Muslims, despite the early head start displayed by this question, still stone women to death for adultery, and chop off thieves hands? And there's this little thing called the 'Hippocratic oath' that all doctors swear to. The guy this is named after predates Islam. Simply putting lots of doctors in the same place, where infection can spread even more rapidly (being before antiseptics and antibiotics), does not make up for one life taken in the recent spate of bombings.
  4. Did you know that you are full of beans?
  5. No, I didn't know. Yes, it's good to know that. No, I don't feel that I owe them something other that what I give them: respect. Yes, it's too bad that Muslims don't make the necessary separation between religion and culture, since one thing is the contribution of the Arabs to humanity and other the contribution of Muslims, whether Aabs or not. Yes, physical well being and faith are directly related and closely interconnected.
  6. Okay what did they use for anesthetics? Antibiotics? Antiseptics? Did you know that both versions of the polio vaccines where invented by Jews, Jonas and Salk.
  7. I think you had better check your facts, Christians started the first hospitals long before Mohammad and his group, forced others to follow the religion he started. Christians also started the first schools and universities. Stop reading that political correctness scrap.
  8. i would'nt feel to safe in a muslim hospital......just make it quick when u kill me ok :?
  9. Great article. but it is worthless here because most people have biased opinion and are narrow minded brainwashed by media.... they only want to listen to what they think it is true
  10. Yes. The Middle East was once a center for new ideas and scientific discovery during and before the enlightenment period.
  11. Thanks, already know that, and they were the first who established mail offices, many other great achievement, too bad no one reads the REAL History of the Islamic world, that's so sad.
  12. This is interesting. I knew that Christians in the Middle Ages used to put themselves out to find a Muslim Physican when a loved one was sick. If they couldn't find a Muslim doctor, they'd try to find a Jewish one. I am Christian.
