How many hospitals are there in the UK?

I need to know how many hospitals there are in the UK. What is the number of beds for each hospital? How are these hospital run; e.g. PFI or outsourced facilities? Do you know of some reliable sources of information where I can find out?

4. You need to be more specific. Do you mean in the National Health Service or do you want to include private hospitals? Scotland and Northen Ireland have separate NHS organisations. The England and Wales NHS publishes lists of trusts and hospitals here http://www.nhs.uk/nacs/data.aspx . Information on individual hospitals such as number of beds or PFI status is not, as far as I know, held centrally though you may be able to get to some information from the site I have given,
