Medical Malpractice

My sister is moving to southside Chicago by Jackson Park Hospital, is there a safe neighborhood around there?

She'll have a car, so that's another question. How's the parking around there? Any vandalism or theft problems?

  1. The best spot would be Hyde Park. She should try to get a place with parking for a little more security and because parking can be difficult. Another place to check out is Pullman. This is a little known enclave farther south. It will be very safe and inexpensive, but is not quite as accessible to downtown and will not have the restaurants and entertainment that Hyde Park has.
  2. Safe? You're joking, right?
  3. Despite what other folks are trying to tell you, it's pretty safe around there. There are a lot of three-flat type apartment buildings. It's close to the Jackson park golf course and the park itself which surrounds the whole area. Lake shore drive is also close by and the lake is not that far away. It depends on exactly where she lives. I'd say the best area around there to live would be the northeast area on the east side of Stony Island Ave. The population of the area is largely African American but it's not too far away from the Hyde Park area which has a more diverse population and is also home to the University of Chicago.
  4. I used to live right by Jackson Park, just four blocks due north of the Museum of Science and Industry. Hyde Park is a great neighborhood. It's relatively inexpensive, safe--the U of Chicago police constantly roam the area, in addition to the city police force. As for vandalism, it is Chicago, so use common sense. But Hyde Park ranks among the safest of the city's 80-some official neighborhoods. The area has great, cheap restaurants and a funky, intellectual air thanks to the student population.
  5. HYDE PARK is OK the parking is crummy there is some what a crime rate but its what you make it but on the up side to it she will always be up front and personal with the BUD BILLI KEN parade that goes on every year before school starts back
