Who thinks New York City is a beautiful and a wonderful place to live?

Regarding facilities (hospitals, schools, universities, restaurants, entertainment), I don' think there's a city in this world that can surpass NYC. But is living permanently in NYC that great? If not, after how much time will a person get bored and which to relocate? Generally speaking of course.

  1. I don't consider NYC a beautiful city. It has greats architecture design, mixing modern and old styles, but it doesn't make NYC a beautiful city. The view, is limited to concrete. There is no mix of concrete and nature like Chicago for example, that has the rivers cutting the city, providing a beautiful view of nature too. Wonderful ? Well, I will have to disagree with that too. NYC it's very stressful city to live, dirt and a lot of rude and cold people. People in NY are focused on making money, period! I think NYC can be considered the coolest city, because it's extremely energetic, everything changes fast here, offers great opportunities in a large variety of fields, from arts to business. I have lived in 3 different cities in my life, and I have lived here (NYC) for about 8 years. I feel NYC a mixture of love and hate. I love the idea of its variety but I think NY is a very artificial city. Everything is very well planned, and I wish that certain things would be allowed to flow more naturally and run its own course, to make things more warm and beautiful as you said. I am sure I won't stay here forever, but I am also sure, I will always be coming back to visit. I think London, can offer all of NYC offers in a higher quality. One thing I can't get over here, is the transportation. I can't undertsand how a city like this, can't offer a more modern subway. I know the NYC subway has one of the greatest numbers of connections in the US or in the world, but is still a shame how its function, plus the cab's drivers here are extremely rude. I don't know why they don't implant a project of "Zero Tolerance" with cab's drivers in NYC. I use special taxis here, I gave up of getting agrevated by cab's drivers.
  2. After a couple of years most people who didn't grow up there are ready to leave. It's nice that everything is so top notch, but when you realize how much it costs in terms of salary and cost of living it becomes a bit of a burden. Most New Yorkers think that their way of life is unique, but there are a few large cities that offer the mix of facilities you speak of that rival NYC's...at a fraction of the cost and with an increase in your standard of living. Examples? Philadelphia and Chicago.
  3. "Beauty" is not NYCs strength. Aesthetically, there are far superior cities in the world, such as Paris, Sydney, Rio. Even the architecture is over-rated. There are a handful of impressive buildings, but 99% of the buildings are bleak and dull. But then I don't consider beauty that important, especially when you live somewhere because you stop seeing it after a while anyway. Living in NYC is very convenient because everything is on your doorstep. You never need to travel far for world class culture and food. The only thing it lacks is opportunities for outdoor activities.
  4. Iwould love to go to New York it looks rappa, but i wont fly on a plane, so i will neva go.
  5. You can never get bored in New York City. It is the greatest place in the world.
