Medical Malpractice

Do you know that hospitals overcharge patients all the time?

You should ask for an itemized hospital bill. I found out from 2 friends working billing for a hospital on how hospitals rip off people. I had a friend of mine get a c-section and the hospital charge her for stirup pads and all kinds of stuff. A common overcharge is for medicine, you never take. Don't even ask what they charge you for a tylenol. Even if you never take one. You get charged for everything, that cheap plastic water jug and cup, better take it, you paid for it.

  1. Yes. Asia's clinics are much cheaper (there's an article in one of the recent TIME magazines)
  2. i don't doubt it, hospitals suck! i was in one for two months when i was pregnant and on bed rest, you don't even want to know what the bill turned out to be once i was released. it wasn't fun!
  3. If you have insurance, the company really gets the shaft but you do as well as your co pay is much higher...
  4. Of course, they always overcharge you for anything.
  5. Now do you seriously think that they set out to overcharge you on purpose? Someone in billing is just sitting there thinking of how they can make more money for their boss/stockholders??? Maybe that is a reason you should always get an itemized bill and actually read it. That prevents mistakes.
