Can anyone help me to understand the law regarding medical debt in Georgia?

I would appreciate some help with statute of limitations and what is actually legal when trying to collect a medical bill.

1. Medical debts have a different statute of limitations than regular credit card debts. Every state will have different limitations. its best to contact your attorney general and they can give you the specifics on the limitations in your state/county
2. The SOL on medical bills begins on the day the service was given. Georgia SOL is 4 years, unless you signed some sort of contract that specifically details a payment plan and length of time. I've rarely seen them used. Therefore, consider this as an open contract.
