Is it really necessary to go to graduate school after college to go to medical school or law school?
I was at a college and career fair and a doctor who was there told me that he did'nt go to graduate school but went straight into medical school

- Take your 4 year degree in Physics, Biology, or Chemistry, and then take the MCAT and pass it.
- You do not have to go to grad school before attending med school. all you have to do is have your undergrad degree and take the mcat. the only thing is that med school is very competitive. if u apply and do not get in, doing a post bac program or going to grad school might help better you application. hoep it helps
- Do you have excellent grades, all the pre-med requirements, plus project or work experience already? Have you have passed the MCATs (or the equivalent for Law School, if that's your choice)? If not, there are colleges which allow you to meet the requirements in an intense post-graduate program, in one year (if you apply yourself full full-time). Another option is to enhance your life experience, by working in medical research, volunteering in an impoverished neighborhood or country, or challenging yourself by climbing Mount Everest or traveling to world on $10 a day for 6 months. You will still have to complete the pre-med requirements and pass the MCATs. Medicine and Law allow you to serve others, whether you earn a large sum or not. Participating in activities that build your mind, body, and soul, will stand you in good stead, whatever the final outcome, so go for it! One step at a time...
- I know nothing about law school. As far as medicine is concerned, if your intent is to just treat patients, the primary care oriented medical schools prefer that you just complete the prerequisite courses and have an undergrad degree in a non-science major. Conversely, the research oriented medical schools require a science undergrad degree and prefer more advanced degrees in the sciences.
