How to get pregnant medicaid in NYC?
In order to apply it says you need proof of pregnancy from the doctor, how do i go about getting the proof, and medicaid, like what is the order of events, i know this might be a dumb question. I want to go to Columbia presbyterian hospital, and i know they have a medicaid office there, but what do i do first.? office or appointment? Or can someone who has done this before walk me through the process. the website is very non descriptive and the 1800 number is just automated. Help me

- for my proof of pregnancy for insurance, i went to the health department and took a pregnancy test, it was free and the nurse signed a paper that said i was pregnant.
- I live on Long Island so to obtain Medicaid should be the same. The medicaid you would receive is PCAP it is insurance for pregnant moms.I first went to health clinic to verify that i was prego and then from there they appointed me to a social worker who helped me and filled out most of the paper work for me for Medicaid.Any woman in NYS cannot be denied insurance if they are prego.I hope I was of help to you also they should also help you to get WIC so make sure to ask for that too.Good Luck w/evrythng and Congrats.
- I live in Virginia, but I am sure that the following things are the same: Go to a health department or planned parenthood (the cost is little to nothing for a test). Take the proof of pregnancy (they will give it to you), along with paystubs from the past three months to the Medicaid office. (Bring everything that you can think of , just in case there is a problem, it will make the process faster!) If you do not have pay stubs, contact your boss and have them get copies for you or get your year-to-date. It will take about 1-2 months for you to be notified by Medicaid. While you are in the Medicaid office, get them to give you some information that states that you are waiting for approval. If you get this, it will be easier to make an appointment with a midwife or doctor's office. This way, you can go ahead and get the prenatal care that you need, without having to pay upfront. Good luck. E-mail me if you have any questions!
