Anyone know of any abandoned schools or asylums on the East Coast?

I am currently working on a photography project and our subject is abandoned schools, asylums/hospitals, and or jails. I am coming from NYC however I am willing to travel by car upto a day or so (24hrs) in any direction. Your help is much appreciated!

1. There is GlenDale in MD, but be careful if you go there. My husband got caught and charged with treaspassing but there are alot of websites on the internet about it.
2. Check out Roosevelt Island, NYC: http://www.riwalk.com/ In NJ, check out what's left of the Upsala College campus in East Orange (it's being redeveloped into condos). You can also go through some back issues of Weird NJ magazine, they've profiled supposedly "haunted" asylums all over the state. http://www.weirdnj.com/
