What motivations are driving the Australian government to reject asylum seekers and refugees ?
I am doing an essay and I need some study sources please remember that those who come illegally are given little option as to how they live out their future. They are being forced to leave for all different reasons and coming to Australia is the next best choice.

- because they're illegally comming here, and tax payers have pay to keep em here, i dont wanna pay for someone who has no right to be here in the first place. watever their reason is for comming here. harsh maybe, but its the way i see it. y cant they go to new zealand, or another country. nothen stopping them doen that.
- Theyre not rejecting them all. Just the ones coming here illegally. If they are genuine refugees odds are they will be allowed in - if they do it the right way.
- AFAIK, the present Australian government isn't rejecting genuine asylum seekers and refugees. Just in the last few weeks they granted a number of permanent visas to asylum seekers who had been on bridging and other temporary visas for long periods of time. Many people who seek asylum or who present themselves as refugees are not what they claim to be. They are simply would-be economic migrants who are trying to get around Australia's immigration laws. They tie up resources that would be better spent on genuine applicants who go through the correct channels.
- Job and housing security for the humble australian person and even this is at risk when companys go to china as in china the asylum seekers seek there own asylum in china so australians are still fighting a battle to keep there home and job.I would rather no refugee people come to australia instead skilled workers to create factorys and keep australia owned mand made means more jobs for australians.Advance australia (fair).
- ...the gov won't be "a modern aborigin".. it's paranoid act.. they affraid if being "throw away" by asylum seekers and refugees, like they've done to the aborigin..
- The Australian government is finding it hard to build enough cheap housing for its own people. How can it find housing for the asylum seekers. We have not got the accommodation for extra 30,000 a year.Refugees here live better than our own people. They sleep 40 people to one little house and get paid big money from the government. If we cannot look after our own people we should not be bringing in more refugees.
- Asylum seekers and refugees are welcomed into Australia all the time. What we don't welcome are the queue jumpers who use illegal people smugglers to help them come here illegally to take the places we would otherwise give to people who do the right thing.
