Medical Malpractice

I have a phobia of mental asylums!?

But I want to study forensic psychology. I hear you have to intern at an asylum, anyway I can get out of that? I have horrible nightmares about being trapped in them forever.

  1. you wont become one without it so buck up lil soldier
  2. Ask a profesor.
  3. I suppose it would be in bad taste to make a joke about locking up people like yourself in asylums who have crippling fears, so I'll just skip past that part... Talk to a therapist. If it's necessary to intern there, you may need the help of a psychologist to help you get acclimated. And don't feel it's a sign of weakness or shame. Everyone has a phobia of some sort; but you should learn to conquer your fears if you can.
  4. Not necessarily. It really depends on your program. Forensic psychology is a pretty popular specialty in my program and the bulk of the students in the forensic program work in the court system or in the jails. But if you want some really interesting cases, you have to go to the mental hospitals. They are not as scary as some may think.
