Medicaid Expenditures For Recent And Undocumented Immigrants Is This Our Tax Dollars At Work?

The correct title for this article is, "Trends In Emergency Medicaid Expenditures For Recent And Undocumented Immigrants." The population is comprised of "undocumented' and legal immigrants (less than 5 years) living in North Carolina for the years 2001-2004. This population can receive Medicaid reimbursement only for "emergency" services. The data is for Medicaid reimbursement and does not include those medical services provided through other sources--primarily hospital emergency rooms and other care centers who do not attempt to collect from Medicaid. About 48 thousand individuals received care under emergency Medicaid services. 99% of the population was "undocumented" and 93% were Hispanic. 95% were female and 89% in the 29-40 year old age group. Emergency Medicaid Services represented less than one per cent of total Medicaid expenses. Over the four years such costs increased 28% but overall costs for Medicaid in this time frame increased 35%. The actual, dollar cost for Emergency Medicaid Services in 2001 was 41.3 million and for 2005 it was 52.9 million. Childbirth and its complications accounted for 82% of the Emergency Medicaid Service expenditures and 92% of all hospitalizations. Over the four years seniors and the disabled, however, had increased costs.

1. This is such BS! I have to pay for half of my insurance benefits through my work, but if I came from another country I would have it all paid for me and not have to work. This is why our country needs to be sealed at the southern borders, I don't want to pay for your food/drugs/clothes/cars anymore!
2. Yep, that's our tax dollar at work. Its disgusting. Ted Kennedy is in the process this week of trying to get our Senators to push through amnesty. That's whats really disgusting. I just watched on TV that people better get on the stick and start calling the Senators of your state and telling them where you stand on the illegals, now. I have done this, but its going to take a whole lot of out cry to get them to listen. Letting them know we will remember when we vote. So, are you going to do it or just complain? I hope a whole lot of Americans, step up and take action.
3. When more and more American's start to complain over this sort of foolishness is when it is going to be addressed. There are still people that will SWEAR that illegals have nothing to do with all the hospital closings that is happening in border states. They will swear that they can't get medical care - when they clearly are. People need to start contacting their representatives by phone and letters and telling them that they want the problems addressed. Not put it off for another day - but get up and start calling and writing TODAY. If people don't wake up - it sure isn't going to get better.
4. The law is not being enforced. Ask that your elected officials step down and let someone do the job they are being bribed to do....
5. Of course it's our taxes paying for Medicaid. I can go on and on about how ridiculous it is for Americans to have to pay for these ungrateful, arrogant (censored) to breed in the U.S. , I think it is equally outrageous that the government agrees to cover the costs, and hospitals agree to admit these patients. Right now, the Social Security Administration is sitting on pile of money worth billions that is deducted from the illegal alien's paychecks (those who use fake or stolen IDs) and the SSA is not using this money to offset the expenses burdened on the American taxpayer. Americans are being screwed! There are Americans who are bankrupt because of high medical bills, millions of Americans don't have medical insurance or pay high insurance premiums, and millions of seniors can't afford medication, yet the government thinks it's OK to cover unnecessary and excessive childbirths brought on our economy by a foreign presence that isn't even supposed to be here. DEPORT ALL ILLEGALS!!!!!!!!!
6. This is our tax dollars being WASTED on people who have NO business even being inTHIS country!!!! If the government took all this money being wasted on ILLEGALS, and gave it to our legal citizens,we would probably ALL be able to get free medical!!
