why do people hate refugees and asylums?

i live in one of the poorest country and there are milions of refugees who have been living in my country. Everybody feels sorry for them and try to help them as much as they can. They are forced to leave their home, family, job. they are desperate people. some of them are the lucky one who had barely escape death, torture, rape and so on. Think of Rwanda, darfure, Iraq and so on. these are people who need our help and support. i don't understand the hate? make me understand?

1. Its not geniune assylum seekers and refugees that are "hated". Its the free loader illegal immigrants that call themselves "assylum seekers" and "refugees" that go to live off other countries for an easier life that are disliked!
