- I think they destroy records after ten years.
- 1955 was not that long ago in terms of Hospitals so it could still be operating. They have to file all records of birth with the county, so one way or the other you may be able to track down the info. This is how we are able to get copies of birth certificates when they are lost. I found these hospitals in Cameron County: Brownsville Medical Center - West Brownsville Dolly Vinsant Hospital - Rio Hondo Rio Grande State Center - Harlingen South Texas Hospital - Harlingen Valley Baptist Hospital - Harlingen Valley Regional Medical Center - West Brownsville But you may have to check the Cameron County property or tax records for Hospitals that were operating specifically in 1955 to make sure you are not missing anything. Or possibly check major public library in that area. Note the Cameron County Courthouse is East Brownsville. It would be difficult to do that type of search online and be 100% sure. I know it's a stab in the dark, but since you know his date of birth and name, then try a zabasearch. I have found people that I have not been in touch with for 20 years or more, simply, because I knew their exact DOB, and name with a middle initial and the general area or state where they could be. If you are not sure of the state, you can try several states with different searches to narrow the results. Note you do not have to pay for the additional search tools, just use the free search engine. Good luck finding your Dad. Best Wishes! ~J~
