does anyone know if there are any insane asylums or state hospitals that are still in operation?

1. yes in all 50 states, they're called prisons
2. All I know is that there is a mental hospital in Arkansas called Bridgeway.

4. there all literally hundreds, if you type in a state and then a state hospital one should come up there is a lots still in operation, good luck
5. Yep theres one in Wichita Falls , Texas not sure what the name is but i know it is still in use. It is a state hospital.
6. They're now mostly locked wards within regular hospitals. Try Google for others.

9. Of course there are hospitals like that in every state. They aren't the way peopel think they are. If you watch the movie Manic its kinda like that. They don't strap you to a bed with a straight jacket unless they have too but its like boarding school where instead of having classes you have councilling and meds.

11. sure....of course they are not called "insane asylums" anymore, but yes there are some state hospitals that are underfunded and always risking closure....
12. Elgin state mental hospital is still up and running. It's in Elgin, Illinois. I think they changed the name to Elgin Mental Health Center. Either way, it's still the same place. Look it up online.
