Medical Malpractice

Will the military still pay for law school or medical school before you serve your term in the military?

I'm thinking about joining either the army or air force. I would like to go to either law school or medical school and wanted to know if the military still has a program where they will pay for your school and then you promise X-many years to serve as jag or medical officer after you get out of school. I haven't been able to find any information about it from local recruiters. Anyone know or know who exactly I should ask? Thank you.

  1. NO they only pay for the basic 4 year undergrad degree, and they will NOT pay until AFTER you do your service, And if you get stop lossed (refused opermission to muster out at the end of your contract) then they still dont need to pay. And if you get killed, again they don't need to pay out. If you go to the air force academy or to West Point, then thats your degree right there. But you need to have a reccommendation from a congress person or a senator.
  2. No they will only pay . If you have completed 4 years active service and are discharged with an honorable discharge DD214 . The military will pay if you go to a military Academy . Like the popular West Point
  3. The best thing to do would be to talk to an Army recruiter. You must get accepted to law school on your own. The Army gives out scholarships/commissions to pay for three years of law school. Now, this scholarship may only be given to prior-active duty. I don't know. A recruiter SHOULD know. If you can't get the Army or whatever branch to foot the bill, while in law school you can seek a commission so that when you come out you will be an officer in whatever branch of service.
  4. Nope. Do you realize how many people would fake reasons on why they cannot honor their contract after they get their degree?
  5. Well, the answer is yes for Med. School and Psychology Ph.D. and no for Law School...but there are several restrictions...which I listed in my original post, which got zero positive hits...so I guess you'll have to find out for yourself. Good luck though, 'cause this is the kind of thing you need to be an insider to know. HINT: All of the other responses so far are wrong!
  6. Are you thinking of ROTC programs where the army helps pay tuition?
  7. Well if you want to be a JAG you could go through Westpoint, the US Army Academy, they will send you through their academy for four years then you must serve six years in the Army. I think ROTC might send you through a college but they won't pay the entire tuition you will still have to pay but not nearly as much, again you serve for six years to "pay" them back. Good Luck!!
  8. NO- the military will NOT pay for your additional civilian schooling beyond the 4 yr Undergrad school as a civilian. However, you can attend Law or Medical School, and then enter the Army as a Professional (Attorney or Doctor) and the Military may pay your loans off on a gradual basis.
