Being admitted into Loyola University Chicago?

I'm stressing out. I REALLY need to get into Loyola University in Chicago because I get free tuition since my mom works for the hospital, but if I don't get in this coming fall ( i'm a senior right now) we lose the benefits for it and i don't get free tuition any of the years i go. Ok, here's where i'm at right now: ACT: 20 - but I signed up to retake it December 13, 2008 GPA: 3.07 I will have a few college recommendations, one being from a United States District Judge in Chicago, who went to Loyola for both regular college and law school. ( Judge John W. Darrah) ok, be completely honest, i need to know the truth. Do you think I will get accepted? I don't think so and it's scaring me. I've only had 2 d's in my highschool career so far which were in german and chemistry ( 1 d for each out of the two semesters) The rest of my grades were C's ( which were mostly in math and science, my two worst subjects) and A's and B's ( which were in my english and history classes, and my freshman and sophmore years I was in AP english and history.) ahh, so, what do you guys think?

  1. Your ACT score and your GPA is too low for Loyola. It is great you are taking the ACT again. And no matter what the score do apply to Loyola, a small chance of getting in is better than no chance from not trying. You are going to need a letter of recommendation from a teacher who has taught you for awhile too.
  2. Always apply, it cant hurt. you will need a higher ACT score, your GPA cant be changed at this point, but when you are sending in your application materials It wouldn't hurt to place an addendum to your personal statement, explaining your d's that weighed down your cumulative GPA and doesn't reflect your abilities If Loyola U is the only option for you and you dont get in, its OK. Spend a year taking courses at the community college and then reapply. Admissions committees want to know you can handle college level work, this is a cheap way to show them
