do new york city (city run) hospitals drug test applicants?
i am required to go for a physical to obtain my job as a business worker in a new york city run hospital. they said i need to get blood work and not eat anything after midnight the night before. i was wondering if anyone else has worked at any nyc hospitals and know if the blood work is for drug testing because i cant seem to think of any other reason they would need it for. this is a city job, so maybe any other type of city employee would know. the physical will be done at the hospital i will hopefully be working at

- any hospital or medical facility runs drug tests its against the law not to if you did drugs detox that way when you pee it comes out like water cranberry juice+water takes about three days to detox
- Since working in a hospital, you're around other sick people, and have contact with them, they want to be sure you're healthy, and make sure there's nothing you can pass on to others inadvertently. SO they probably check your blood for that. Not sure if they check for drug use either, but I'm pretty sure that in most states you can be drug tested by an employer. So there's a good chance they check for drugs to. No need to put patients or other employees at risk.
- Yeah, most municipal jobs will drug test. Blood work is more likely for disease and other personnel information. Hope you are clean! And detox will not work if they are testing your blood for drugs. Ditto if they do a hair test.
