What is more important in undergrad college to get into medical/law school?
Is it the college's reputation or is it the gpa you get there? Like between UCLA (prestigious duh) and Cal Poly SLO (not as prestigious but probably easier). (engineering major btw)

- GPA for sure. Cal Poly SLO is actually a really good school, probably the best Cal State, especially for engineering. However, UCLA is a lot more fun and exciting. It all comes down to your grades though, because if they're not great, you won't even be considered.
- I was told when applying for Clinical Psychology masters/PhD programs (they look for similar things as med school or law school!) that schools look at both your grades AND where they have come from. Your GPA is probably the best thing to get high... but the schools you will be applying to WILL know if you got them simply because you were at an easier school!
- The school has to be good. You have to be even better.
- A stellar GPA looks great, but the MCAT score is the great equalizer. You need good scores for both to make it through the first round of selections. After that, you need to show the admission committees that you are a well-rounded, community-minded individual with the potential for leadership. So get involved in volunteering, get some clinical experience, and work on some great hobbies. Good luck!
