What kind of floor tiles are used in hospitals?

I'm trying to do some research about floor tiles. I'm in the Army and we're looking to retile out building with the stuff they have in hospitals that doesn't scuff and is always shiny. Does anyone know where I can find something like this?

  1. I work in a hospital and believe me, they do scuff. It is housekeeping that keeps them up by buffing and waxing them a few times a week. I think they are your average industrial type tile. I don't know what they are called, but I can find out if you are still interested. Our hospital now is removing them and putting down a rubbery type flooring throughout the hospital which requires no waxing, and is slip resistant. Though when something falls on it that is sharp, it does dent it. :-)
  2. they are called non slip poly vinyl tiles various sizes, also comes in a sheet form usually 12 foot x whatever length you want, the best way to lay them is to bed them in a glue (check with supplier for best glue. not to be sniffed at). not knowing where you are situated but here in the north west i find a company by the name JEDDONS to be the BEST and there staff are very very helpful
  3. Some hospitals and schools use natural linoleum - one brand name is Marmoleum.....the stuff is great! It is nontoxic, tough and lasts for years and years. Here's a page on natural linoleum for more info: http://www.building-your-green-home.com/linoleum-flooring.html Hope this helps.
