I was granted an asylum (dependent) while i was overseas. would i be consider an asylum or refugee for citizen

for citizeship application since the refugees can count all the years that they spent in the US before becoming permenant residents vs the asylums who only can count the years after be ing granted a permenant resident status the INS defenition for an asylum :somone who is granted the status while on US soil. for refugee : who was granted while overseas
