What are some jobs in the medical or law area?
And what degree, or any other educational requirements, do you need for each job? And what do they do? If this helps, or changes some things, i live in Canada, and i won't be going to university for like 4 or 5 years.

- A paralegal is a great career in the law field. A paralegal is similar to an attorney, in fact the only restrictions on a paralegal are 1. Representing someone in court 2. Giving Legal Advice and 3. Setting legal fees. Other than that Paralegals are trained to do all sorts of things to help an attorney out. Some of these things include: Legal Research, Drafting legal documents and pleadings, opening estates for probate, client intake, and many other things. People get confused as to the difference between a legal secretary and a paralegal and once you've explored the field a bit you'll see how different they are. In Ohio, there are no educational requirements to become a paralegal. Many attorneys hire people without Paralegal training. There are educational options however which are a good idea because you want something that's going to make you a more desirable applicant than the rest. If education is the route you choose, you have a few options. Many community colleges have paralegal programs that are two years long and result in an associate's degree with a paralegal certificate. Some vocational colleges offer paralegal programs and I believe the average length of such program is 18mos. Colleges and Universities have bachelor's programs where you can earn a degree and a paralegal certificate. Paralegals work in law offices, government agencies or the courts, corporations employ paralegals in their legal department, insurance agencies sometimes employ paralegals and some financial institutions do as well. Also, there is such a thing as a freelance paralegal. The great thing about the career is you have so many options once you have acquired a degree there are so many areas of law (criminal, probate, family, contract, immigration, juvenile, personal injury, intellectual property, litigation, bankruptcy, creditor's rights, social security...etc.) You literally get a chance to learn about these fields and then based on your personality and what you're looking for you pick the area for you. It's a lucrative career and it is almost guaranteed that you will have your nights and weekends off along with most holidays. Salary.com gives paralegal an impressive job growth outlook as many employers are finding paralegals can do the work just as well for a fraction of the cost. A medical career is a great choice too, there are several options like nurse, medical assistant, nurse aid, medical coding/transcription, several types of therapists (physical, occupational, music, recreation), I think every therapist has an assistant as well and most community colleges offer programs for these types of jobs. Good Luck, finding your career can be a tough decision and I wish you luck!
