If mental institutions or insane asylums had existed in early Christianity, would we have religion today?

  1. Yes, we would. You underestimate the craftiness, cunning, and ruthlessness of the functionally insane. And they're really the ones that make the base spirituality that religion co-opts. You don't need to BE them to steal their ideas. Then you just need a greedy person to make it into a religion. There are lots of greedy people in the world. Take Paul for example...
  2. the roman had the right idea with crucifixion, but they should have done the disciples as well, that was their big mistake
