What kind of hazardous substances can be found in hospitals?
What kind of hazardous substances can be found in hospitals, or within the clinical area? For example, cleaning products or products/other things used in diagnosis. I'm writing an essay on Health and Safety in the Clinical Area but haven't worked in a hospital yet. Thanks!

- Loads!! Barium (poisonous) - used in X-Rays, X-Ray and Gamma Rays for destroying bacteria, lots of different chemicals for cleaning and treating. A hospital, ironically, is a death trap.
- germmszz!
- Any pharmaceutical can be hazardous if not taken wisely. But common products used in a hospital like Mercury (Thermometers), Barium is used for some X-Rays, Lead Alloys are used in X-Rays. Cleaning products like bleach are alkaline and thus harmful.
- It is true; germs are probably the worst things you can find in the hospital. Its so easy to contract an infection in a hospital if you are already immunocomprimised.
