What is the proper way to sterilize magazines that are donated to hospitals?
It seems to me that when I'm in the hospital, I would like magazines to read, so I'd like to gather some magazines from people. These are magazines that people receive, read, and would discard or recycle. I want to collect some of these magazines and donate them to hospitals, but it seems like the magazines should be sanitized first. Can you microwave magazines for a long enough time to properly sanitize them, yet not create a fire hazard?

- Oh comon who's afraid of fire? Just kidding. Make sure all the adds that have foil in them, Perfume, exct are out. Then take your micorwave outside! I guess if your in the city that could be weird, but hay why not?
- Microwaving won't kill bacteria, but a Autoclave will. You can pick one up on line for about $3000
- most hospitals have their own autoclave, especially if they have a lab. call your local hospital and ask. what use is a burnt up magazine?
- Why would you even bother trying to sterilize them...the hospital/office where they are going are much dirtier than the magazines could ever be.
