What should I do my job isn't working for me Every day I go in I am anxious.?
I have worked as a HCA for nine years, And I am about to turn 30. I am at college two nights a week. The problem is that I work in a big hospital on a ward where I keep being moved. I am always told to go and work on another ward. But surely if they have not got enough staff they should be speaking to HR or the internal nursing agency. I have become very anxious about going into work on the daily. Just in case they move me onto another ward. It makes me feel devalued. My boyfriend said I should just resign and go on the dole till I find something else. But I don't think thats a good idea. I do realize how lucky I am to have a job though

- Of course a lack of security and stability would cause you to feel anxious, that is a normal response and it increases stress over time. Create a list of pros and cons for your decision - everything you can think of. Weigh the options and see if the cons out beat the pros and then decide. Also, include big the questions: How important is this job to you? Is it affecting your schooling? Is the stress affecting your personal life? etc..... Only you can decide and ultimately be happy with your decision. Good luck. :)
- Why isn't that a good idea? Do you know that stress and related illnesses (anxiety, digestive problems, sleep disorders, headaches, etc.) can cost you so much in the long run? Not just financially but also psychologically and emotionally. I would at least start looking for another job where you will feel valued for what you bring to the company, even if it means you may have to take a pay cut so that you can save yourself from being so stressed and possibly having other medical issues.
- It is not a good time to leave a job if you haven't got one lined up. And it is easier to get another job if you are in a job and harder to explain why you left to the next employer if you did leave. The dole is a bit of a nightmare. They don't leave you alone and try and get you into any old job. It is a real pain, in my view. So if you can, speak about how you feel to the relevant person at work. If you are going to college then does that mean you will be moving on at some point anyway? So, easy for me to say, but if you can stick with it and do something about it at work and work towards a longer term goal also.
