Hospitals and and shelters for children to volunteer at?

My nephew wants to volunteer at a (human) hospital or animal shelter, but since he is in Queens he cant get working papers because he is 13. Are there any hospitals that could use some help?

1. I don't think there is an age limit to volunteering. It's worth a call though. Sounds like a great idea >:-)
