Has anyone given birth at the hospital on fort bragg in fayetteville ,North Carolina.?

Hi, so i'm 37 & 4 days along in my pregnancy and 2 cm dilated. so i'd imagine birth will be right around the corner and since my husband is active duty army i will be giving birth at wolmack army hospital on fort bragg in Fayetteville, NC. I was curious if anyone has given birth there and how their experience there was. & also what should i pack ?? unfortunately my husband is in korea right now so i'll probably go thru labor alone.. any suggestions would help allot !! Thanks : )

  1. Talk to the Family Service Center and find out if they have the phone number for doulas in the area. Sometimes they will offer help during labor for spouses of AD members for free or discounted amount. Pack: toothbrush, toothpaste, brush, hair ties, comb, socks, pads (and you will need the extra long/heavy duty ones), easy clothes to get into when you leave, magazines, a book, music/mp3 player, blanket for the baby, onesie or another outfit for baby, camera, car seat
  2. I did!!! My daughter is 2 now...And it is very different...I did not like it! And I would just pack your clothes and the baby's clothes to go home in, they provided the rest, even toothbrush and tooth paste. They also give you everything for the baby also and then plus some to take home! so that was a plus. So if they give it to you for free I say hey, take it. Oh and DON'T forget your car seat they will not let you go without it and they have to physically check the baby is properly buckeled in right before you leave...........Now the not so good part!!! You have to take some stupid class that's like 2 hours long about shaken baby and it is Mandatory that you have to take this class before you leave and you can't even take you baby to the class you have to leave the baby with the nurse. And if this is your second baby and you have no complications they will only will keep you for 24 hours on the dot....which i was uneasy about that cause it was my second baby. Oh and don't forget on your way out to go to the 1st floor of womack and apply for your baby's birth certificate. That sucked also because there I was, just gave birth 24 hours ago with a 1 day old and I was there waiting for like 2 hours to wait my turn to see the application lady...It seemed that they just didnt care about my situation and I had to wait and take a number and have a seat.
