NYC-Hospital for Special Surgery vs NYU Hospital for Joint Disease?

I'm going to get lower back surgery in NYC at either the Hospital for Special Surgery or the NYU Hospital for Joint Disease. I've heard that the NYU Hospital for Joint Disease has really bad infection rates. Has anyone had back surgery at either place? Or does anyone know of infection rates at NY hospitals? Thanks!

1. The US in general has bad post-operative infection rates. I would go to one which has a good reputation in this area, and then if you get one, sue them. I would prefer one in Japan, much, much more, though. They practice better hygiene.
