As i was sayin ive been researching HCA and i thought u had to do an apprenticeship first to become one bt someone has suggested u dont u just do training with the hospital ur based at. 1. You don't need an apprenticeship to be an HCA. Once you have got the job & passed the medical check & CRB, you go through training period or induction period as it's known at my hospital. I had to have 4 weeks of training then I worked for 2 weeks supernumerary before starting work properly. I was paid for all of this time though. The best place to find an HCA job within the NHS is this site. http://www.jobs.nhs.uk/
