Medical Malpractice

Anyone else out there having a hard time finding a job?

I am ending my second semester at university soon and I have been looking for jobs for this summer for the past month. I have applied for numerous positions including two Kohls stores, three nursing homes, various positions at two separate Toy's R Us stores, a rehab clinic, Petco, two restaurants, a retirement home and I also applied for an internship as a speech pathologist assistant at a local center for children with disabilities. So far no one has called me back for an interview, and I got turned down for one of the four jobs I applied for at Toys R' Us without even a call-in for an interview. It is funny because most of these positions being advertised have been open since December and they don't even want to call me in for an interview. And I have previous work experience in retail, landscaping, customer service, and in hospital/ health care settings so I can't fathom why they won't even interview me. I even looked over and revised my resume and got more recommendation letters to boost my chances. I have become obsessed with finding a job that I check online everyday for new listings. I got so desperate last summer I had to travel to Ohio to work for a family member to make some money for college. If worse comes to worse I will just volunteer at my church and hospital again and look up more scholarships and grants to help me with my fees, undergrad tuition, and for grad school. Has anyone else had similar troubles finding a job with this terrible economy?

  1. i can't find a job either :(
  2. In simple terms: yes. There's more than a few news articles out there on the internet about this. Apparently employers will stop at nothing to keep citizens from working--they will literally use any excuse to screen people out, including but not limited to: not hiring the unemployed, not hiring anyone with a mark on their credit rating, not hiring anyone over a certain (young) age, not hiring anyone with a police record (whether the charge sticks _or is dropped_), not hiring people _with_ work experience. It goes on and on, and largely doesn't happen to immigrants who don't speak English. No, I don't know what to tell you. Really, I don't. Because too many people just "have to" Vote Derp and elect Tea Partiers who are anti-union to the marrow of their bones because they're _paid to be_. Among lots of other things. It's like...getting people to see a bigger picture and to vote _against_ globalism, downsizing, outsourcing, and refusal to hire citizens, getting people to do that is like pulling _teeth_. But yeah, I hear you. I do. Lots of people like you and me in this boat here. Many of us are even the dreaded "evil white male", which is one more lousy excuse. What can you do?
