What is a hospitals responsibility for a person left abondoned at an emergeny room?
If someone could not support a relative anymore (an adult suffering from depression) and the person went to the emergency room and left them there (1) What are the hospitals responsibilities to that person left in the energency room? (2) Can the person that abondoned them at the emergeny room get in trouble?

- hahahhaha idk
- There has got to be a better solution than just dumping the person at the ER. I believe that the ER has no responsibility beyond treating life threatening physical conditions. As for getting in trouble it depends on your relationship to the person. Are you legally responsible for them or not? But I suggest you call 211. 211 is a national help line like 911 or 411. You can get help from them. http://211us.org/ http://www.211.org/
- The hospital would provide emergency treatment care if needed and then call social services. Yes, the person abandoning someone at the hospital can get in trouble. That is not how you deal with these situations.
