Medical Malpractice

What are my chances of getting into University of Chicago?

I'm a senior at Cass Technical High School, out of 470 something students in my class, I'm ranked 39. My overall gpa is 3.7 The very first time I took the ACTs I got a 23 and the second time I got a 24. I took Honors Algebra,AP English and AP US History. Senior year I will be taking AP Literature and AP Biology. I'm part of our buildOn chapter, Pep Club and I'm actually the Chair of our Recycling Committee. Senior year I will also be in National Honors Society and the Red Cross Chapter at school. This summer, I am currently working at CVS Pharmacy through the Pathways to Pharmacy program, and last year I worked at the ER at Henry Ford Hospital. I haven't taken the SAT yet, How much would I need to at least be considered for Princeton, by the way??? I'm Asian[I'm not Indian, but I might be considered Indian since I'm from the country right next to it] and live in Detroit, MI [as I have all my life]. I would apreciate some advice as well. thank you :)

  1. Not great, but not hopeless. It's a reach for you -- maybe your odds are 10% ish...
  2. Low to none. You need much closer to a 4.0 and a perfect on the ACT to compete with the other students applying. You asked about Princeton as well. I'm not sure you actually know much about the school's you're trying to apply to.
  3. You would be wasting your time and money applying to any of the elite schools you've listed. Are you not getting competent counseling in your High School?
  4. Your ACT is much too low. The 25th percentile on the ACT for University of Chicago is 30 and it is 31 for Princeton. Students need an unweighted GPA of at least 3.75 to be at the bottom of the competitive group for both schools. Nothing in your background makes you stand out for selection by these very selective schools. You will not be admitted to either. You are intelligent to have asked before you paid the application fees.
  5. I had a 3.9 unweighted GPA and 29 ACT scores and was the editor in chief of the school's newspaper as well as doing a lot of sports... they sent me a letter basically mocking my decision to even apply. So, good luck.
