How do hospitals in emergency situations diagnose your blood type?

In lab we're using an EldonCard kit to diagnose our blood type. If you are suffering extremely fast blood loss in the emergency room, how do hospitals figure out your blood type so fast?

  1. A rapid slide agglutination test takes about 30 seconds. They start off with O neg blood and while that all is going they do the rapid type.
