Are the VA hospitals better equipped than private hospitals like Tenet and Baylor?

1. no...but if you need special treatment, they will send you to a diff hospital.
2. I don't know about better equipped, but I used to work at a teaching hospital in another state. This hospital was associated with a veteran's hospital and a children's hospital as part of the program- They had the same doctors for all 3 hospitals- so the staff was just as good at all three. If that helps.
3. not in my experience! they're awful. now if your talking about military base hospitals, they're about the same
4. Not necessarily. It's depends on the location and the hospitals.
5. Usually not, since they're funded by the Government. Private hospitals don't have the usual "red tape" to contend with when funding new equipment and updates.

7. Hmmm...that is a loaded question... Most are associated with other hospitals and at times the same Doctors that treat you at those Hospitals... Equipment is NOT the issue... It is having Qualified Personnel to operate the equipment...it is even harder for the VA to keep those People as they are treated like dirt... Doctors ARE NOT allowed to treat Veterans as they would treat civilians...most Doctors are only allotted 15 Min's to see a patient... Many of the Medical Procedures that are used today were Perfected on Veterans First... So you see the Government doesn't need Guinea pigs it has Veterans... 90% of RN's are in Admin positions with No patient contact as are Most Doctors that are VA employees... You will see mostly Forgien Doctors as employees at a VA Hospital..most do not even have a licence to practice medince in the States they work... If a Doctor abuses a patient, Kills a Vet by illegal testing he only gets 3 months per Vet...sexually harresses any one they are only transfered to another VA Hospital. As are any upper managment people... especially if the can keep a lid on Rapes and assualts to Veterans by Care Givers... About 2/3rds of the VA Budget goes to Admin and Bounus payments... There has been NO increase in Staffing that has anything to do with Patient care in the last 15 years... If a Doctor/RN/Professional of any kind leaves or retires from a VA Hospital.. they are Never Replaced...
