Medical Malpractice

are there any companies in north carolina willing to accept applicants with a felony?

i have a drug conviction from a few years back & i have been clean since then. i am a registered nurse and so far have been turned down by 27 hospitals. i applied for a few non-nursing positions and still was not hired. i need to hear from other people with convictions or the people that do the hiring. being honest and explaining the circumstances has gotten me nowhere, so please don't respond saying that people "will understand" i really need to work and would be happy at any old retail job, a grocery store, a home improvement store- whatever. just need a paycheck!

  1. I know someone going through this same thing...USA is not a good place to be forgiven and forgotten....My suggetion is to try companies where you see lot's of Mexican's working ,they obvioslly don't check out to many backgrounds or papers,so you can lie and they won't check........
  2. A felony might as well be the end of your real working life. Bottom line, no employer is going to hire a felon, if there is a similar or even less qualified person without a record. Okay large grocery chains cannot/will not hire you. Retail is an option as long as its like a mom and pop place. Really do you know many felons that actually find great jobs? Its really unlikely. Seven-11 may be your best bet, or simply do this... Not every company checks your police record, so in that box that says "have you ever been convicted of a felony" check "No." I say this because many companies actually don't check backgrounds, and its even easier in small towns. After 27 hospitals and no results, its time to change the playing field. At worst, the company can simply fire you. You will collect all the pay up until that point.
