Medical Malpractice

where can I get financial help being injured and out of work? No workers comp or insurance.. North Carolina?

I have broken my ankle and cannot work for nearly two months or more. My accident did not happen at work so there is no worker's comp involved. Also the company I have been working for does not provide insurance nor do I have any personally. I was employed for 2 years with this company. I just need information on any programs that I can apply for to recieve some financial help for my hospital bills as well as my personal bills ie. rent, utilities, food.
