Medical Malpractice

Question about severe headaches....?

My cousin is 35 years of age. A year or two back, she was mugged and essentially the mugger hit her with his pistol. After that, she started having headaches. They get to the point where she has them approx. every week and a half to two weeks, it looks like she's got two black eyes, her eyes swell shut, she doesn't know where she is, who her family is. She actually thinks she still lives in North Carolina (where she used to live when she got mugged), when we live in Ohio. She also gets severe nausea and she gets EXTREMELY mean when she's in one of her headaches. When she goes to the hospital or waits it out for a few days, she's back to her usual happy-go-lucky-sweet-as-can-be self until the next one hits. When she comes out of it, she can't remember anything that happened during that time period. Does anyone know what this is? She's been to UNC hospital, Duke University, all kinds of hospitals trying to figure out what causes these. Any help would be appreciated.

  1. May God bless her... I think you must take her to the psychiatrist now don't mind on that but i think she is not aged and definitely needs a proper treatment. try to watch comedy movies with her.. go to fun lands, avoid rides, umm parties, i mean try to keep her happy and relaxed. Thats all I can say at the moment.. but I seriously pray for her :) Everything will be fine.. don't worry :)
  2. Your cousin is suffering from Post Concussive Trauma... and Post Traumatic Stress Disorder! The headaches, can be due to "swelling" in the area of the head/brain, where she suffered the trauma... and the "amnesia", as to "where she's living/is", is also related to the same trauma. Therapy might help... as well as, seeking out a good Post Traumatic Stress support group... they have them online... just Google: PTSD... Good Luck
  3. Your cousin needs to continue to seek medical advice until she gets better answers. This sounds very serious! She should come to the Mayo Clinic to be seen by a neurologist. The Mayo Clinic has one of the best neurology programs in the world. Tell her to ask her doctor for a referral SOON!
  4. This could be a posibility. Check this out with serious consideration. This will usually at least help if it doesn't take care of your condition(s) all together like it did for me! Have you tried a Chiropractor for help? You can have undetected nerve compression, it can cause almost any kind health problems from immune disorders to asthma to depression to acid reflex to migraines to allergies even organ failure. Try having your spine examined by a good chiropractor that believes in the power of our central nervous system. Your brain controls every cell and part of your body threw nerve transmissions and if nerves are compressed your body will start to malfunction due to the lack of nerve impulses. Your central nervous system as well as the American diet has a lot to do with the conditions that people suffer from. Most doctors don't even understand our central nervous system therefore they don't know how to properly address conditions with out medications (with a 101 possible side effects) when nerve compression could be the root cause. For eight years I was suicidally hopeless with three young kids, no doctors out of many had a clue as to what was wrong with me and suggested that I was mental because of the many health problems afflicting me. I know the power our central nervous system because I was set free from chronic nerve pain (stinging, stabbing, burning, itching from my eyeballs to my rib cage to my head to toes, literally!) that was all over my body as well as many other health problems after my spine was treated from a good Chiropractor (his goal was to straighten my spine) without medications. Stretching my spine on an inversion table helped the most for me ( Three times a day for about a month I forced my spine to stretch. My spine pop loudly several different times and three weeks later most of my crazy symptoms started going away while nothing else help!). Oil base B-vitamins also helped a lot, there good for nerve transmissions. A lot of problems are also do to vitamin and mineral deficiency problems that doctors are unaware of. Acupuncture believe it or not works wonders for a lot of people too. Just remember it takes time and consistency when going the natural way but has far greater rewards than other methods so don't give up or get discouraged, just be consistent! You will never know what may help if you don't approach your situation with an optimistic open mind and be willing try new things like natural alternatives which has given me my life back when doctors were careless and clueless. Don't ever give up hope, pray for God's guidance and he will help you find the answers as he did for me(when nobody else could), sometimes you have to find your own cure, it's out there just keep searching! Although it might be your spine. I wish I had enough room to tell you my whole personal story! God bless.
