How can Obama state this?

Obama said,"drying up gas tax collections would batter highway construction, costing North Carolina up to 7,000 jobs, while saving consumers little." Does he not realize the roads will not matter without traffic on them, but people who already need to buy gas to travel to hospitals or work will hurt more. Everyone can go around a pothole or slow down which will save fuel anyway, but they cannot feed their children without work and may lose their job if they can't get their. NC will lose only a small percentage of road funds and other states may have the same needs. Prioritize the needs and issue the grants to the most dangerous roads. This shortage of funds will not affect summer work and that money is already gained from previous months. States can add tolls to high traffic roads if need be. He is not priortizing needs correctly.

  1. It's a good idea to focus on gas more than roads...that's why Obama is doing the opposite. What Would Rev. Wright Say? God ---- the roads?
  2. So the trucks that deliver your food and other supplies should be happy traveling on damaged roads? The vast majority of N.C. roads are maintained and built by the state. You have the second-largest network of state-maintained roads in the country. However, the gas tax also funds public transportation.
  3. Respectfully, I agree with Obama. In a 10 gallon tank, the 18 cents reduction puts a whopping $1.80 back in the consumer's pocket. At $4.00 per gallon that 4.5%. Nothing indicates that gas prices will stop at $4.00 either. This "holiday" is the silliest attempt at fooling America yet. Here's another point. Oil companies, if they were simply passing the increased costs on to the consumers, would enjoy a rise in revenue, but not in profit. Since their profits are skyrocketing, they're adding on to the increased cost of oil. Why doesn't McCain give us a holiday from that?
  4. only fools would agree with obama any lil bit that puts funds back into our citizens pockets are needed RIGHT NOW , even a few cents at the gas pump means that simply put , only the dumbocrat brainwashed obamamite would over look this mans insanity
  5. I am not an Obamite, but his logic is sound. If we cut the tax, then there will not be enough money to build and repair roads. You are suffering from the same delusion that afflicts many Americans, that we can maintain current spending indefinitely with less revenue. That thinking has resulted in an over $9 trillion federal debt.
