Does the medical law state that I must tell my husband I want to get my tubes untied?

- No...that is your decision
- Why wouldn't you want you're husband to know anyway...
- Its your husband why would you not? If there is not open communication in a marriage then what is it? It is wrong not to!!! This is something he should know and you two should talk about!
- In this case there is no law pertaining to what you obviously feel you should do.
- There is not a state in the country that I know of that has an actual law that states that you are required to have your husband's permission to get your tubes tied or untied. However, you should discuss it with him. He will likely notice as the cost is $3,500-$8000.
- Why don't you want to tell your husband? If you want to get them untied the only reason could be that you wish to have another child. You can't make this decision on your own, and it's not a question of medical law, its a question of trust. I'm assumming your husband trusts you to tell him something so important and life-changing... why would you want to abuse that trust? A deception that big could ruin your marriage...
- I say do what you like but in the end when the time cames to do it can with or with out telling him but if do not tell him then one say hey baby i wuld like to have a baby then you say we could try all day long but the thing that my tubes or un tied but you need to tell him.
- Theres no law but TELL HIM IF YOU DO WHAT DO U WANT TO DO HAVE SEX AND END UP PREGNANT AND HE WON'T KNOW WHY!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
- that doesn't sound like a healthy marriage to keep something that huge a secret!
- There's no law that says you have to tell him or that your doctor does. But it does go against your marriage vows to deceive him like that. What happened to love and honor him? Untying your tubes is a big decision and it shouldn't be made unilaterally in a marriage. Good luck.
