  1. The hospital closed several years ago. I've never heard of Peggs, but you might be able to get some info on him from the Staten Island Museum of Arts & Sciences, located on Stuyvesant Place, or the main library on Staten Island, located on Central Avenue.

"HARRY PEGGS, 76, PHYSICIAN, DEAD; Ex-Staten Island Surgeon" April 24, 1957, new york times, p. 33. "ST. ALBANS, Vt., April 23-- Dr. Harry MacDonald Peggs, a physician and surgeon for fiftyfive years, died Saturday at Mary Fletcher Hospital in Burlington after a brief illness. His age was 76." i used to be able to pull up the historical nytimes from either the queens public library or westchester library, from home, but i can't anymore.
  3. Tham is mistaken. Richmond Memorial Hospital on Seguine Avenue in Prince's Bay is still open; it's just been renamed University Hospital South.
