Why did Hillary claim that an uninsured pregnant woman died in Ohio after being denied health care?
NEW YORK TIMES April 5, 2008 Over the last five weeks, Senator Hillary Rodham Clinton of New York has featured in her campaign stump speeches the story of a health care horror: an uninsured pregnant woman who lost her baby and died herself after being denied care by an Ohio hospital because she could not come up with a $100 fee. http://www.nytimes.com/2008/04/05/us/politics/05woman.html?ei=5087&em=&en=76d7527aa43f0f01&ex=1207627200&adxnnl=1&adxnnlx=1207591717-qduzb9ejYKI6cwyRqHLxuw just plain jim (below) {hi} Stuff happens isn't a good answer. For someone running for the highest office in the nation, "stuff" seems to happen on a pretty frequent basis. just plain jim (below) {hi} I do not agree with public servants (Congress) receiving better coverage than those that pay their saleries (us). As a former Civil Servant myself, I too had the best health coverage money could afford.

- Did you expect the hospital to own up to it?
- The same reason she claimed she was "under sniper fire". The truth seems to elude her from time to time.
- Bad fact checking on Hillary or her staff. Maybe next time she will get smarter and make sure the 2nd hand story isn't BS before repeating it ad naseum. Too bad for Hillary, it makes her sound like she is lying again.
- So she gets votes ... simple as that.
- where did hillary hide the body??
- More lies. She really is using that shovel to dig DEEP.
- There are better examples. People do die everyday because they are turned away from hospitals or they die from inability to pay for their medications. Why does no one measure those people? How many people with HIV, Cancer, etc die because they can't afford to pay for medicines? How many people die because they are almost dead by the time they are admitted? And why does no one care?
- Hillary is looking for info to further her campaign strategy. This was just another way of possibly attaining more support for her campaign. Unfortunately, for her it has backfired. Lies just don't cut it. I am voting for John Sidney McCain III.
- She was fed some BS that sounded good to her, so she ran with it. Mrs. Clinton shows her prejudice against the US health care system.
- The story was told to her by someone. she should have checked the facts rather than taking it at face value.
- Hillary seems to forget the most basic tenet of being in a hole...STOP DIGGING! More lies aren't going to save her campaign. If I were that woman's family, I'd sue, especially since we now know how much the Clinton's are worth!
- Everytime I go to the clinic I see someone turned away because they can't pay the $80 fee just to get in the door. I always wonder what do they have and who will they spread it to before they can finally get treatment.
- When its all said and done. Its still not going to give us better health care!!!
- That not only happens in Ohio, it happens way too often in such a great nation as ours, and not just to pregnant women. In L.A. there are reports on this, I've read about this type of stuff happening in N.Y., in rural areas it happens and big cities. It's sad to know that competent medical care in this country is a privilege, not a right.
- She was citing an example of something she sought to prevent. I saw her tell this story on TV, in one instance she claimed the hospital was so over-booked that this is why they demanded a $100 payment to see her. I'm curious how Mrs. Clinton plans to implement a solution if this particular hospital was already over-booked, certainly giving everyone health care would increase the use of the hospital and make it even harder to get an appointment. Edit: seems everyone thinks she's lying, but the article mentions that no one is formally challenging Clinton's account aside from the hospital in question. I'm not so sure she's lying this time (it's hard to keep track). "Neither paper named the hospital or challenged Mrs. Clinton’s account."
- Ohhhhhhh, because stuff like that happens When someone doesn't have health insurance, then they either pay, or wait for it to become an emergency to get free medical care. Let me ask you a question. Why do you think its a good idea that federally elected officials get universal health care and we have to put up with insurance companies? And why does the US government provide universal health care to Iraq and Afghanistan, but not our own people? Think about that for a while and get back to me sometime. ============= I asked you a question and you didn't bother to answer it, but instead raised the bar higher. Like I said, life is simple, but you insist on making it complicated. =============== Life is so simple, but we insist on making it complicated Confucius 551 - 479 BC =============== Peace Jim .
- Because Hillary is a liar that will say or do anything to get votes.
- I can't understand a country who could allow this to happen. I can't understand a hospital who could allow this to happen. I can't understand doctors and nurses allowing this to happen. I would be outraged if this happened in this country.
- That's the story she was told by someone who lived in the girls town. They even showed the guy telling Hil the story. She didn't make it up. The guy didn't have his facts straight
- That hospital has more reason to lie than Hillary. They obviously are the ones lying because they are embarrassed. Hillary told that story because it's true
- Another made up story by her and an Ohio sheriff
- Hillary is a lier for sure, but she also knows that ignorant people will repeat her lie to other ignorant people. And this lie will actually garner her a lot of the ignorant vote. She won't win come November, but it dang sure won't be because she didn't try. Wonder what it cost to get that deputy sheriff to lie for her?
- I'm beginning to think one of the byproducts of Bill Clinton's friendship with Bush Sr. is that Hillary is now a closet republican. By that, I mean that she's messing up on purpose to mess up the democratic party, and actually ends up supporting McCain. Nobody with her amount of political "experience" messes up SO CONSTANTLY that there's NO CONFIDENCE in her picking up the red phone. "NO, don't push the button - I misspoke! What do you mean the missile is fired... YOU'RE FIRED. Now what do I do???"
- What's really sad is many die WITH insurance because the unregulated, profit-driven HMO's simply deny life-saving treatment for patients in the hopes that the patient dies before being able to fight for their right to treatment that they paid for through their insurance. That is the real crime in this story.
- Because she is a fricking LIAR!!!! Duhhhh!!! When are you all going to wake up. Hillary is a liar!
