Medical Malpractice

Why did Hillary lie about a health care horror involving an uninsured pregnant woman?

Over the last five weeks, Senator Hillary Rodham Clinton of New York has featured in her campaign stump speeches the story of a health care horror: an uninsured pregnant woman who lost her baby and died herself after being denied care by an Ohio hospital because she could not come up with a $100 fee. The woman, Trina Bachtel, did die last August, two weeks after her baby boy was stillborn at O'Bleness Memorial Hospital in Athens, Ohio. But hospital administrators said Friday that Ms. Bachtel was under the care of an obstetrics practice affiliated with the hospital, that she was never refused treatment and that she was, in fact, insured.[...] There is no end to Hillary's lies... Old or not, it shows a pattern of a dishonest woman who wants to be our Next President... There will be Blood ...... Thats right Amanda: Push aside Hillary's lie and focus on the real issue. Not the fact this LIAR wants to become our President. Nooo..thats not important..

  1. You should put in the links because people will discount your findings as Hillary bashing.
  2. I don't know if you could call this a lie, I think more investigation needs to be done. This could be a hospital trying to CYA, if you know what I mean. I did read about it, however there are some things that are suspect. However she shouldn't just be spouting some one elses B.S. stories, as this is what happens when you cite a 3rd party story. How did Clinton know this to be true? She is just telling you a story that someone told her (which is pritty weak).
  3. maybe she's subconsciously trying to destroy her own campaign? it's too bad that she's making those kinds of errors on such an important subject.
  4. She doesnt know how NOT to lie!
  5. Because she wanted to..so what..are you some kind of angel or something
  6. I have not heard of the story being a hoax myself, but if what you say is accurate, there is a good chance she lied because she will do anything to get into office...even if it means pushing the truth or attacking someone or something. It is our decisions as individuals to determine why that is. Maybe she really wants to win to actually change the nation, or is she just another dirty politician? Its hard to imagine anyone truly wanting to help this nation in getting back to a better time, the truly rich and powerful names and corporations in this country have total power...which one really wants to change that??? Just don't vote McCain.
  7. because thats what she does best
  8. it might not be true, but I wouldn't put it past her
  9. She didn't lie. The story was told to her by a sheriff's deputy, and because of privacy restrictions the Clinton campaign could not gain access to the woman's medical records. There was no reason for Senator Clinton to believe that the story as broadly circulated was not accurate. If you want to point fingers, point to her campaign staff. But Senator Clinton herself had nothing to do with this. She certainly would not be telling this story if she knew already about any inconsistencies. A lie would have been knowing the story had some problems and still telling it. That was not the case at all. Get your facts straight, and stop trying to smear Senator Clinton over trivialities.
  10. According to a couple of nurses who post on YA, this actually does happen. So to call it a lie because the hospital administrators say it doesn't is questionable. She did fib about her trip to the Bosnian war zone though.
  11. This is old already. She told the story that she was told by the deputy sheriff involved in the case, and had no reason to doubt that. Even her own spokespeople said that if it turned out not to be true that she wouldn't say it again, but why doubt the authorities? Candidates often tell of stories they are told on the campaign trail. This one turned out not to be accurate. I wonder if Obama can blame that same kind of thing on his "I never heard anything controversial come oout of Jeremiah Wright's mouth" fiasco....
  12. While I would be one to say she is a consummate liar, in this case part of her problem continues to be the people she surrounds herself with and another part is her. She should have known better than to repeat a story without vetting it first and it was not only time she told the story. It has since been revealed that while the woman did die after her still born child a month later, she DID have insurance. http://cosmos.bcst.yahoo.com/up/player/popup/index.php?cl=7285689
  13. Wasn't that the time she had to dodge the bullets when she was talking to the laid off factory workers in Ohio? Oh, wait a minute, I'm getting confused myself right now. That's what happens when you get caught up in a web of lies.
  14. I have worked in health care for 15 years, I have seen administrators lie to everyone they can. Some have gone so far to hide documentation that is state reportable, to those who over see regulations in health care facilities and the state's attorney general. So I don't hold the story as fact. What about the police officer? Who was he? Police officers should be of better character than to just spout untruths of this kind. Was he a McCain or Obama supporter who gave a tragic story to her knowing she would give a policeman the respect of character automatically? I think there is more to this story than Hillary repeating it.
  15. Maybe a lie, maybe just an honest mistake. Either way, she still encountered heavy sniper fire in Bosnia =)
  16. You know i would think that maybe you people would be more concerned to know if this really happened to this poor woman and her baby instead of being more concerned with the fact that Hillary lied. i have answered this questions more times than i care to . but again people it does happen i am a nurse believe me people are turned away from hospitals where you can get better care that you might need . and are forced to go to a hospital that is only trained enough to apply band aids . but if you choose to not believe that this happens its up to you all . but keep in mind even if the lady did receive medical attention it was probably not the proper care she would have needed because of her inability to pay .
  17. She repeated something told to her that was damaging to that hospital. What, is Hillary still in the sixth grade?
  18. I'm no Hillary fan, but "lie" is a strong statement on this particular matter. She was only repeating what a voter on the campaign trail (who happened to be an officer of the law) told her. However, her highly paid team knows the microscope is on her and should have verified the story before it was added to the stump speech. They failed her on this on.
  19. because she's a lying b*tch!!!! obama 08 people!!!!
  20. I agree there is no end to Hillary's lies,,maybe she is a pathological liar,, if not ,she is close to it,, Isn't she intelligent enough to know that the truth will come out,, If she is elected ,this is something we will have to deal with as long as she is in office,, I was horrified when I heard this story on the news today about the pregnant lady and baby. Isn't it getting difficult to believe anything she says now ?
  21. I just saw a clip on Fox where she takes the lie hook, line, and sinker from a sheriff who told her the whopper. Part of what concerns me is how ANYONE could buy the notion that a hospital would ONLY look for $100. I'm not being funny--hospitals are among the most notorious, vindictive collectors in any field. http://www.businessweek.com/bwdaily/dnflash/content/nov2007/db20071120_397008.htm Plus they usually treat first, bill later. Illegals skip out, citizens get hounded into bankruptcy, but they do get treatment EVEN WHEN THEY DON'T HAVE A LIFE THREATENING CONDITION which is actually what the federal legislation calls for--not treating everyone who hits the door. When something is SO OFF from what it should be, seems research and verification is called for. No idea why the guy lied to her and if he were "misinformed" he's still a liar because he passed it on when he should have checked it out. I don't think too much of her credibility, but then I'm stumped to name more than 5 pols that I'm inclined to think probably tell the truth more often than lie. Would help if media did some fact-checking in a timely fashion as well. The fact the public could believe this, however, shows how bad things have gotten. We know we're being taken advantage of by hospitals, so it wasn't completely far-fetched to buy the story. All this BS gets us off course from what needs to be fixed, but the story is important because it calls to question how serious Hillary is about doing HER homework. That's scary.
